Last Wednesday evening about
800 attended the Annual open
air Chicken. Barbecue, sponsored
by the Brodhagen and District
Chamber of Commerce. The
Brodhagen Band led by band-
master Larry Kistner„` played
during the supper hour and the
CKOT Tillsonburg Ranch Boys
presented an open air program
and also played for the dance
held in the Community Centre.
Games df chance and refresh-
ment booths were well patroniz-
ed. A draw for ten prizes was
made at midnight with the fol-
lowing winners: 1 Ironing board,
Mrs. Ken Elligsen, Brodhagen;
2, electric clock, Mrs. Edwin
Scherbarth, RR 1, ,Bornholm; 3,

Sunday for her mother, Mrs.
George (Lena) Bennewies; who
was 80 years of age on Saturday
'when her family, grandchildren,
great grandchildren, brothers
and. sisters attended. Mrs. Ben-
newies was the .former Lena
Leonhardt,, daughter of the late
Mr, and Mrs. John Leonhardt.
She has a family of five daugh-
ters and one son. Mrs. Robert
(Hilda) French; Mrs. George
(Anna) Sherrin, Toronto; Mr3.
Jim (Edna) Lloyd, Weston; Mrs.
George (Laura) Rock, RR 2, Wel.
ton; Mrs. David (Rita) Davis, of
Fullerton and William of Kitch•
ener. There'are 11 grandchildren
and 18 great grandchildren. Two
brothers, Henry, of Brodhagen,
one sister, Mrs. Henry Steinback
(Annie) of Mitch'ell.
Mr. and Mrs. Lew Hicks and
two grandchildren, Alvin and
Sheryl • Lee Hicks, have moved
to reside at RR 5, Bolton after
living here for about 12 years,
They will be joined by Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph. Hicks, Toronto, par-
ents of Alvin and Sheryl Lee. •
Mr. ,and Mrs. John Pruim and
five childrr of Monkton have
purchased the Hick's home and
moved the beginning of August.
Mr. Pruim is employed with Roe
Farms, Atwood.
'Mr. Henry Leonhardt Sr., and
Mr, Arthur Prustaf have been
confined to 'Scott Memorial Hos-
pital, Seaforth.
A number of girls from here
attended a party for Lois Dav-
eys' 14th birthday Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Leon-
hardt visited Mr. and Mrs.
Leonhardt Jr.,. at Thamesford,
recently.
Mr'. and Mrs. George Mogh
with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin. Rose,
Sarnia.
Miss Netta Brink holidayed
with her cousins at the .home of
Mr. and Mrs. Guichelaar, Sea -
forth.

ing,athis home after being con-
fined to Engleheart °Hospital.

Workshop concert held at Kpox
Presbyterian Church, Stratford
recently with members of the
Festival Opera Company and the
National Festival Orchestra.
Mrs. Barbara McLeod of Mit-
chell, spent last week' with her
sister Mrs. Charles Ahrens.
Mr. Gary ' Sholdice spent sev-
eral days in Toronto accompany-
ing Royce Riehl and his Country
Cousins Orchestra to make a
long -play recording at Arc
Sound Studio.• Gary being the
drummer.
Mrs. Bennewies- is a member
of St, Peter's, Lutheran Church,
Brodhagen and of the Lutheran
Church Women and takes a keen
intertest in community ' affairs
and has been decorating many
wedding and anniversary cakes
during the years and has done
quite a number recently.' She
farmed` with her. late husband. at
RR' 2, Walton and is now making
her home with her family.
Mr. Fred Bennewies accom-
panied by Morley Koehler, Har-
ry Proctor -and George Regele
had been on a trip to the East
Coast.
Mr.. and Mrs. Raymond Meyers
Steven and Lynn of Indiana, In-
dianapolis, who are holidaying
at the.ir summer cottage at Port
Albert visited Mr. and • Mrs.
Jonas Dittmer last Wednesday
and also attended the Chicken

PERCY •TIPPETT , •
Died in Clinton Public Hos-
)ital on Tuesday, Mr. Percy
Tippett, in his 77th year. •He
is survived by his wife, the
former Elsie Petty and three
sisters, Mrs. William, Hayter,
Varna; Mrs. John Pease, Lon-
don and Mrs. Charles 'Upshall,
Bayfield.
The body ,is resting at the
Bonthron Funeral 'Home, Hen -
salt, where funeral services
will '-be conducted by Rev.
Harriston,.- of Bayfield, on
Thursday, Aug. 5th, at. 2:30
p.m., with interment in Bay-
field Cemetery.

day evening almost 100 attend-
ed the affair.
