McKliop-
Closes
A pensive mood prevailed as
pupils, parents, former pupils
and residents of the commun-
ity of SS 12, McKillop, gather-
ed to bid farewell to their
school which has served the,
districtfor over 75 years, and
is now being absorbed into Mc.
Killop School Area 6.
In September, the school will
not reopen and the eight pupils
will be taken by bus to attend
SS 6, McKillop.
Jessie Little, who has taught
in the school for the past 15
years, was honored by her pres-
ent pupils and many former
pupils who , returned for the.
occasion. An address was read
by Jim Rapson, a former pupil,
and now a grade 13 student of
Seaforth • District High School.
Rae.. Beattie and Marjorie Glan-
ville presented her with gifts:
Miss Little thanked her board
and the people of the commun-
ity for their co-operation.
She expressed• the hope that
as she moves over to SS 6 with
her pupils, the partnership may
be continued.

The first school board was
formed in 1889, and in 1899
the school was built. of frame
construction, the school . was
built at a cost of $850, a n d
furniture and equipment was
valued at $275.
In 1946 a renovation program
was carried out to improve the
lighting. The entranje was mov-
ed from the front to the end;
but these were the only major
changes made in the original
building. • -
Since, the school opened in
1890 tere have been 25 teach-
ers. The first teacher, Miss An-
nie Simpson, taught for , one
year, .

Lord's Prayer" and "A Wed-
ding Prayer."
The bride who was given in
marriage by . Mr. Jack Moore,
Seaforth, wore a princess .style
gown of white satin, featuring
an empress waistline, app ed
lace panels on the skirt and "a
train falling from the shoul-
ders. Her headpiece was form-
ed with petals of satin, holding
a shoulder -length veil, and she
carried a bouquet of white car-
nations and blue mums.
Miss Kendra Moore, Seaforth,
was the maid of honor and
wore a princess style floor -
length dress of blue crystal
charm with an empire waist-
line and a train from the shoul-
ders to- the floor. ,She carried
baby blue mums.
Cheryl, Wendy and Penny
7VJoore _ were ' the bridesmaids,
and wore dresses identical to
that of the maid of honor. Sus-
an ' Pearcey, Kitchener, was
flower=girl in a floor -length
dress of blue crystal charm,
and carried baby blue mums.

guests 'were ushered by ,Randy
Babock, Londesboro; John Hog -
tart, -Lendesboro, and. William
Hatcher, Brantford. Jeffrey
Moore, Seaforth, was the ring -
bearer.
Following a reception held at
the Legion Hall, Seaforth, the
bride and groom left on a wed-
ding trip to Northern Ontario.
'For travelling, the bride wore a
turquoise, suit with white ac-
cessories and a corsage of white
carnations. Mr. and Mrs. Hog-
gart will reside at RR 1, Lon-
desborb.
Guests were present from
Whitby, Oshawa, Brampton, To-
oronto, Goderich, Kitchener,
Brantford, Lambeth, Exeter,
Londo, Oakville,, Dartmouth,
N.S., and St. John's, Newfound-

In a `lovely wedding cere-
mony at Carmel Presbyterian'
Church,. Hensall, Saturday, July
10, at 3:00 o'clock, Karen
Louise Tinney became the bride
'of Douglas John Shirray, of RR
2, Hensall. Rev. J. C. Boyne,
of Exeter, performed the cere-
mony amid a floral background
of baskets of pink gladioli and
candelabra. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. Jack Tinney,
RR I, Exeter, and. the late Mrs.
Tinney, and the groom's -par-
ents. are Mr. and Mrs. Albert
W. Shirray, RR 2, Hensall. Tra-
ditional wedding music was
provided at the organ console
by Mrs. Beatrice Hess, Zurich.
' Given in marriage by her
father, French peau de sole
was used in styling the bride's
formal wedding gown, featur-
ing a '- Shallow scoop neckline,
elbow -length sleeves and a fill-
ed Empire line bodice, giving
way to an "A" line floor -length
skirt forming a chapel sweep.
Argentine lace appliques gave
an added touch of elegance to
the gown, whose back detail
was centered round a grouping
of unpressed pleats forming a
bustle back. A Queen's crown
of pearls and crystals held the,
four -tier French silk illusion
bridal veil. The bride carried
a cascade of dark pink carna-
tions, ivy and white gladioli
buds.'
Matron of honor, Mrs. Mar-
ian Tinney, Exeter, sister-in-
law of the bride and brides-
maids, Misses Joan and Carel
Tinney, RR 1, Exeter, sisters of
the bride, - bridal attendants,
were gowned in original' floor
length semi -"A" -line dresses,
styled, similarily to the bride's
gown, in imported white stravb-
hat linen, featuring a shallow
scoop ' neckline, elbow -length
sleeves and a sash of shocking
pink' peau de soie, ending in a
bow at the back of the Empire
style dresses. They carried aria
bouquets of Bink gladioli .with
streamers of matching shock-
ing pink peau de sole.

,The wedding reception was
held in the Commercial Hotel,
Hensall, beautifully decorated
with baskets of pink gladioli.
For receiving, the groom's

cessories, with which she wore
a Talisman rose corsage.
For travelling on their hon-
eymoon the bride chose a
navy dress with three-quarter
fish :net crochet sleeves, pink
and white accessories, and a
pink rose corsage. The young
couple will reside in Hensall.
The groom is a graduate of
Western Ontario Agricultural
School, Ridgetown, and the
bride is on the staff of the
Bank of Montreal, Hensall.
Prior to marriage, the bride
was feted at several' functions
in her honor. Mrs. Lorne Chap-
man entertained at a • miscel-
laneous shower. Friends and
neighbors of S.S. 2, Hay; ar-
ranged a miscellaneous presen-
tation. -The staff of the Bank
of Montreal, Hensall, met at
the home of Mrs. Doug Marcell
and presented her with a mis-
cellaneous shower of gifts. Hos-
tess Mrs. Marcell Was assisted
by Mrs. Grant MacLean.,

whose marriage took place Sat-
urday, was honored at a - mis,
cellaneous shower in Waterloo.
About 18 friends of the bride
attended. Contests and games
weft played, anda delicious
buffet lunch was served.. Lois
thanked those present for the
shower and lovely gifts.
Friends, neighbors and rela-
tives also held a shower for
Miss Maloney., at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Maloney, Seaforth. The hostess-
es were Mrs. John Maloney and
Mrs. James Kelly. Mrs. Kelly
read - an address to the bride.
Following games and . contests,
the gifts were - carried in by
Mary Margaret Kelly and Elaine
Heenan. Lunch was served and

The June 'meeting of Huron
County 4-H Swine Club was
held last week at Auburn Hall.
Mr. McAllister introduced the
new home economist. Mrs. Pat
Squires introduced Dr. Cald.
well, - who talked on the Uni-
versity of Guelph, and then in-
troduced
ntroduced Mr. Sing. Mr. Sing
discussed the youth program,
in his native India and showed
a film, "India—.The Land and
People."
The' meeting ended with a
quiz on 4-11 work, on which Mr.
Sing is doing research.

St. Augustine's' Ronian Cath-
olic , Church, Dundas, was the
scene of a very pretty wedding
on July 3, of Judith Mary Rob-
inson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Robinson, of Dundas, and
John Robert Martin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Martin, of Ham-
ilton. • Rev. J. Sacll officiated
and present in the 'Sanctuary
were Monsignor McHugh and
Rev. J. Smye.
The wedding music was play-
ed by Mrs. Kenneth Greathead
and Miss Marie Alfano was the
soloist.' Vases of white chrys-
anthemums and baskets of
white gladioli, white carnations
and white Shasta mums decor-
ated, the altar.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor -
length gown of white silk or-
ganza with lace bodice and long
lace sleeves with applique of
lace on the skirt. The chapel
train of organza and net was
also trimmed with lace. Her
three -tiered veil of tulle was
held in place by an organzza
petal headpiece centred with
lily of the- valley. She carried
a white velvet prayer book, the
gift of her great aunt, Mother
Geraldine, and Y. which . was
adorned •with- a white orchid
and stephanotis.
Miss Dorothy Robinson, sis-
ter of the bride, was the maid
of honor, with Miss Maureen
Looby, of Dublin, cousin of
the bride, and Miss Barbara
Cooke, of Dundas, as brides-
maids: Little Miss Laurel Eliz-
abeth Looby, of Dublin, was the
dainty flower girl. All- attend-
ants wore pastel -yellow full-
length gowns of - silk organza
with lace • trims. Their flowers
were cascades of white carna-
tions and white Shasta mums
with hints of yellow.
The best man was • Frank
Goodman, of Hamilton, with
Herbert Robinson and Robert
O'Rourke as ushers.
Guests were received at the
reception held at the Collins
Hotel, Dundas, by the bridal
party and the parents of the
bride and groom. The mother
of the bride wore a dress of
green silk, shantung with white
accessories, while the mother
of the groom chose pale pink
with matching accesspries,
Following a motor trip
through Northern Ontario, Mr.
and Mrs. Martin will reside in
Dundas. For travelling, the
bride chose a pink sheath dress
with an. .over -dress of white
lace, Her hat was also pink,'
and her corsage was of pink
and white carnations.
