• Dairy Cow Eats 6 Tons food
Drinks 37 Tons, Water
The cow isan amazing crea-
ture! A dairy cow produces
11,000 pounds of milk in a year,
eats 3,025 pounds of grain and
protein food, 4,700 pounds of
hay and 3,400 pounds of silage,
according to the USDA.
To top that off, she • drinks
75,045, pounds of water. • This
helps, her build up about 10
tons of blood that are pumped
through her udder in a day's
time to produce 40 pounds of
milk. It requires from 300 to
400 pounds of blood in the mak-
ing of just one pound of milk.
Imagine having 'to, carry all

that feed and water to a cow
so she can produc,e 11,000
pounds of milk a year! That's
six tons of feed and more than
37 tons of water for just one
cow. Multiply that by a 50 -cow
herd and you have the stagger-
ing amount of 2,150 tons per
year!

DAIRY. FOODS. AND STRAWBERRIES.
' MAKE FINE PAIR IN JUNE
. . ,
When luscious red strawberries make their annual debut,
. ,.
we wish desperately that their stay were not ' so short., Our
solution is to enjoy them just as often as possible during
their brief season, along with plenty of dairy foods, their
natural partners.
Colorful, jaunty and gay--Lthat best describes our Berry
Patch Crackers. And they taste like more—so we warn you .
w to 'Wake a go-ddsupply of them. Graham crackers and
toast- rounds are spread with orange -flecked and flavored
cream cheese, then topped with king-sized strawberry halves
and mint sprigs for added dash It all adds up to real- flavor
too, as you'll discover when you serve and enjoy these capti-
vating crackers when family 'or guests are sipping milk
"coolers"' on the•porch or patio.
