Meeting
On Wednesday, May 26, the
ladies of Burns' UCW held visi-
tors' meeting, when they en-
tertained neighboring auxiliar-
ies. The president, Mrs. Ed.
Bell, presided and welcomed all
who attended. Hymn 668 was
sung as Miss Ida Leiper accom-
panied on the organ. Mrs. ceo.
Waft read the scripture from
Psalm 37. Mrs. Jim Scott, Sr,,
offered prayer. The announce-
ments were read by Mrs. Bell.
Mrs. Carman Moon sang, "On
Christ, the Sold Rock I Stand."
Mrs. William Trewin favored
with two readings, "The M
riage Cook" and "Take Tim
For These Things." A due
"Whispering Hope," by Mr
Bell and Mrs. Mood, was muc
appreciated. The offering wa
received by Mrs. Leslie Rei
and Mrs. Peter Salverda. Th

was sung.
Miss Gladys Leiperintrodu
ed the guest speaker, Mrs. Geo
Mickie, of Belgrave, and ex
pressed the pleasure that Mrs
Mickie was free to come bac
to our church as many, eou
remember her as a little Sun
day school pupil, and later a
a member of the church. Glady
also spoke of the capable, un
selfish manner in all church
work done by her mother, Mrs
Robert Beattie.
Mrs. George Smith thanked
Mrs. :Vickie for her fine ad
dress, and expressed the plea
sure for her taking time to
visit with us and deliver her
fine message in such a clear,
distinct voice, and leave many
,valuable thoughts. Mrs. Bell
thanked all for coming,, Mrs.

the. Burns' ladies for their help..

Assessors' Convention
Last week George Carter, of
Londesboro, attended • the con-
vention of Ontario assessors in
Chateau Laurier, Ottawa. He
was accompanied by Mrs. Car-
ter and her sister, Mrs. John
C. McDonald, RR 2, Brussels.
While the • men were listening
to speeches and discussions, the
ladies were enjoying life.
On Monday, through ' the
courtesy of Simpsons -Sears, four
bus loads of ladies of the party
were taken through much of

SHE FEARS MARRIAGE

the drivers. Afterwards, lunch
was served and a gift present-
ed to -each lady,
On Wednesday a conducted
tour of the Parliament Build-
ings was made very interesting
and educational by the conduc-
tor. That evening all the men
and women were presented
with lucky draw tickets. The
banquet was held; followed by a
program and dancing
