Mrs. Carter Kerslake was
elected president' of the Staffa
Women's Institute at their an-
nual meeting held on Wednes-
day evening, April 28, at the
home of Mrs. Ross Smale. The
meeting was preceded by a
turkey dinner, served by the
losing team of the , attendance
race, Twenty-two members at-
tended.
Mrs. John Templeman presid-
ed and opened the meeting
with the 'Institute Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect. Roll call
was answered by the payment
of fees. Mrs. Robert McCaugh-
ey played a ,medley ,of songs
and everyone joined in sing-
ing, "When It`s Springtime in
the Rockies."
Reports were given by all
committees and Mrs. Tom Laing
presented the slate) of officers
for 1965-66. A very successful
year was reported. Officers for
the coming year are:.

I quit smoking eight months

that he might start smoking
again some day. (Neither of us
had any problem "kicking the
habit.)
I told him 1 hoped he never
starts again, most of all be-
cause' when I am not smoking
the taste of nicotine nauseates
me. I told him I would not
kiss him if he started the dirty
habit again. He thought this
a great joke,and laughed heart-
ily. If Joe ever starts smoking
again, would I be fair in stick-
ing to my promise? Also, I fear
I will•, start again if he does.

P.S. We have -been going to-
gether' two years and this is my
biggest problem. Isn't that mar-
velous? • -
DEAR N.S.—Wouldn't keep-,

Smokers' Association. That way

An outstanding blind Cana-
dian, Miss Louise . D.' Cowan,
will address a joint meeting of
the Howick Lions Club and the
Huron County Advisory Board
to the Canadian National Insti-
tute for the Blind, announced
J. H, Kinkead, chairman of the
CNIB Board. The meeting will
be held in , the Wroxeter Com-
munity Hall, Monday evening,
May 17.
Miss Cowan, a native, of
Princeton, Ont., lost• her sight
in an accident at the age of
three. She attended the On-
tario School for the Blind at
Brantford, graduating in 19,39
with a bursary to McMaster
University, Hamilton, from
which she received her B.A.
in 1943.
