Mrs. Elliott took the chair for the business --and welcomed the speaker, Rev. Mr. Pease, of Bayfield, who brought the need of recruits for the church for- cibly to our, .thoughts. NORTHSIDE UCW, UNIT FIVE The May meeting- of Unit Five, UCW, was held, at the home of Mrs. Doug Whyte. The roll call was answered by 11 members and one visitor. A treasurer'sreport was given by Margaret Somers. A cleaning bee is being held at the church on Thursday af- ternoon. A bale is being pack- ed the end of May. The unit is responsible for the toddlers during the months of August and September. It was agreed on motion of Doreen Brightrall and Margar- et Somers that we held the sup- per provided by .the losing side of the copper'contest on June 21st, at the . cottage of Mrs. Wright. Conveners, for the bake sale are Gwen McCue and Aud- rey McIlwain. Each 'Member was asked - to donate three artioles, Letters from two for- mer meriibers were read, thank- ing the unit for the coffee spoons. Gwen McCue opened the de- votional 'portion of +the meet- ing with a' poem, "Spring„” fol- lowed by the hymn, "Birds Are Singing, Woods Are Ringing."
