Mrs. Strang said Sunday night
' THOMAS 'Q. Fox •
A former resident of Sea -
forth, Thomas Quigley, Fox was
buried in Kincardine recently.
Mr. Fox died at the age .of 75.
Born in Carendrey, Scotland,
he worked as a coal miner in
his early years, -.and also serv-
ed in the First World War: His
wife, the former Elizabeth Mac-
Donald, died in 1935, and one
daughter, Mrs. Roy Hawser,
died in 1943.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Roy (Sarah) McAllister,
Sarnia; one son, Thomas, RR
1, Kincardine; six grandchil-
dren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers for the fttneral ser-
vice were Ed. Andrews, RR 2,
Seaforth; Howard Preszcator,
RR 1, Clinton; Lynn Lowry,
David Lowry, Leonard Elutes.
and Elsner _Smeltzer, and' .floov-
erbearers, were Robert and
Leonard Courtney; all' of Hur-
on Township. A cousin of Mr.
Fox,Rev. Cameron Quigley, of
Owen Sound, assisted at the
service.
Noah Webster began writing
the dictionary in 1807 and fin-
ished in 1828.

and the girls presented Elaine
with many lovely. gifts. Elaine
thanked all for the evening
and gifts, and ,the everting con.
eluded with singing of ''`She's
a Jolly Good Fellow," and
lunch.
CHURCH GROUPS HEAR REPORTS
• ST. THOMAS' GUILD
The regular meeting of the
Ladies!' Guillld of St, Thomas
was held last Wednesday even-
ing at the rectory. The presi-
dent; Miss. G. Shniwdien, opened
t'he meeting with 'the seripture
reading froim St. Luke, followed
by the Lord's prayer. After the
roll call and miniutes, by ,the
secretary, y, the' treiasurer., gave

After new business' was dis-
cussed various articles of knit-

Thursday, :which opened with

president; Mrs. Francis Cole-
man. Hymn 212 "Jesus Keep.

The SLIiipture Lesson wase read
'by Mrs. Elgin Nett, taken from
the 20th chapter of Jahn, verses
1-18. • Prayer was offered . by
Mrs. Jack Thompson..
Mrs. Cairns sang ''a solo ac-
companied by Mrs;. Geddes• and
the collection was received by,
Mrs. McKay and Mgrs. Mac-
Gregor.
Mrs, . Butt "introduced the
guest streaker Rev, McFau'1'ds.
His message was taken from
the 4th chapter of Chronicles,
verse& 9 and. 10. The president
thanked the speaker and alt
that had taken pant. Hymn 192
was sung. '
UNIT ONE, UCW
The April meeting of -Unit
One was held at the home of
Mrs, Clarence ' Walden. Mrs.
Gordan Papple opened the
meeting with a reading,
"Spring", followed by • the min-
utes ' and roll call by Miss R.
Fennell. There were 24 pres-
ent and one visitor'.
Mrs. E. Williams reported 16
visits to 'sick and shut-ins, Mrs.
E. Mills read several thank -you
cards. Mrs. E. H. Close Ietl in
the devotional part. Hymn 87
was sung, accompanied by Hel-
en Elliott with 'her accordian.
Mrs. Close gave a reading'com-
mentary, on "Easter". Mrs. Wil-
mer Cuthill led in prayer. Hel-
eh Elliott favored with an ac-
cordian selection,' f'The Old
Rugged Cross." - Mrs..Ken Stew-
art gave a talk from the study
book, "Trinid'a'd": •
Hymn 86' was sung and 'Mrs,
Close closed the meeting' with
prayer. Lunch was served.
Mrs. Ken Stewart thanked the
hostess, those taking part, and
the lunch committee.

'A successful' euchre was held
iib the Orange Hall Wednesday
evening under the auspices of
LOL 793, with prizes 'going to
the following: Ladies, first,
Mrs. J. Storey; lone hands, .Mrs.
Webster; low, Mrs. Cora Bar-
rows; men, high, Elmer Towns-
end; lone hands, Albert O'Reil-
Iy; low, John Tremeer. Draw
on a table lamp was won by
Mrs. Helen Lane.
