CHILDREN WHO HAVE CYSTIC FIBROSIS are included in the responsibilities of the
Ontario Society for Crippled Children and the provision of special inhalators and .drugs is
all a vitally important part of, their treatment. For the` first time last summer, several
children, such •as this lad, had a wonderful vacation at' the Easter. Seal camps. Every
gift to the Easter Seal •campaign, which. is sponsored in this area by the Seaforth Lions
Club, will be of some help to a crippled child.

Children with physical dis-
abilities ' are being discovered
by the Ontario Society for Crip-
pled Children almost every day
of the year. Case- finding is a
vitally important Easter Seal
function and is carried on in.
the remote areas as well as in
heavily populated towns and
cities through periodic surveys.
Crippled children's, surveys
are conducted on a "County"
basis by a special survey com-
mittee composed of representa-
tives from the local medical
society, Easter 'Seals service
clubs and the district nurses of
the Ontario So,ciety for Crip-
liled Children.
Survey notices are sent to all
physicians, Clergymen, teachers,
official health agencies and com-
munity groups to publicize the
services available to all physi-
cally infirm children under 19
years of age.
The -
_ families of children re
ported are visited by the dis-
trict nurses with prior approv-
al from the family doctor. •Un-
der the doctor's direction, ar-
rangements can be made' for a
comprete rehabilitation pro-
gram embracing medicine, ther-
`apics, social service, psycholo-
gy, education and recreation.
If you know of• a physically
handicapped • child not, receiv-
ing care and treatment, . notify
any member of the 'Seaforth
Lions Club which is the Easter
Seal club serving the Seaforth
district.

DEAR' DORIS—It was won-
derful of you to contact your
doctor friend about,iy niece.
We were' :'at wit's 'rut about
how to get her to .go..v,•olan-
tarily into hospital. •
Before we, could follow your
advice; nature stepped in and
took a• hand. She had a com-
plete breakdown and was tak-
en into the mental cases 'ward
of the hospital.
. Now she is coming along like
a house afire. She has been
given shock treatments and'' i§
a changed youngster.. Itemein'-
ber how withdrawn and de-
pressed she was? Well, accord-
ing to reports, slie is getting
real outspoken.
She will be borne in 10 days
but will remain on .pills and

ing back to school. And this

anxious to get back!

Mr. and Mrs. .fanny . 'Grtnn-
mett, proprietors of Danny's
f)rive-1n Restaurant ' at Wing*
ham, have: purchased Lin* Kiln
Ledge at Inverhuron, Kincar-
dine township, Bruce County.
Their, new establishment will
be open -for business Iro i ,June
18 to Labor tiay.
Lime Kiln Lodge has 'been
operated as- a summer resort
for 34 years, starting out in a
small -Way and expanding to' its
present main dining, room, 23
eabins and "coin laundry. The
dining room and laundry serge
the prtblic as well as register-
ed guests. In addition to these
facilities, there are badminton
and tennis courts, , a lining
patio, spacious lawns and beau-
tiful flower gardens. •
The main attraction is the
old kiln. in the garden which
was operated for over half a
century and. was still in use as
late as • 1920. The limestone
was gathered from the beach
and the kiln , was fired with
driftwood, supplemented by cut,
tings froryi area bushland. The
limestone was burned for two
days and nights, under constant
watch, acid then cooled in the
form of lime, Which was sold
by the bushel and used in many
of the' foundations of nearby
buildings. The kiln at Inver -
harem is the only one remain-
ing on the lakeshore..-
The lodge 'has been patron-
ized. by vacationers who have
returned annually for many
years, as well as new guests,
who have learned of its fine
reputation.,
Mr. and Mrs. Grummett will
remain in the restaurant busi-
ness at' Wingham" and operate
their new establishment only
during the holiday season.
py challenges that make her

The reception she• gets, frorn`.
friends and family 'now are all-
important to her •permanent `
recovery.
DEAR DORIS—My legs are
bigger than the rest of me, et-
pecially the thighs. This is very
embarrassing when wearing
shorts and a bathing suit, be-
cause the largeness of
thighs shows up more than it.
does in slims.
Embarrassed
DEAR EMBARRASSED—You
can do a lot with exercise and
massage. I'm sending you a
leaflet, "Some Special Notes
For Chubby Legs," which de-
scribes ' some thigh - shapers,
knee -shapers and flesh -thump-
ers. Regular faithful perform-
ance can turn a shapely limb.
(Available to other readers
for ten cents and a stamped,
self-addressed' envelope.) •
DEAR DORIS-1 am writing
you to ask if you would have
any literature for a debate on
"Does 'or does not TV affect
the child, and if so, how?" ..
Debater
/ DEAR DEBATER—No print-
ed literature; you'll ' find that
in your library. But would you
like' my private two `cents'
worth?
Pros: Educational half-hours
help broaden the .child's world;
even commercials' help with
word and object 'recognition,
letters and numbers. Outstand-
ing artists—when we have them'
—stimulate an interest in good
music. •
Cons: TV keeps little Wil-
liam rooted to one spot when
he should ...be 'tearing around
developing his 'social conscious-
ness even as he stretches and
develops his muscles, in • pray
times with his pals.. And the
scarcity of programs geared to
,his needs threatens to give him
an unbalanced view of life—at
a time when everything he
hears and sees stimulates his
imagination.
TO INSOMNIA — Sleeping
pills, when prescribed' by a doc-
tor, and taken just the. way he
says, to, can do a tremendous
amount of good. At the same
time, no trill removes the worry
or strain that caused the sleep-
lessness, And" too •much de-
peridence on drugs equals an
addiction, no matter how thin
you slice it; • • '-
