Of Scotland • Mrs. Carter Kerslake was hostess for the February meet- ing of the Staffa Women's In- stitute, held at, her home on Wednesday afternoon. T h e president presided and opened the meeting with the Institute Ode and Mary, Stewart Collect. Mrs. Walter O'Brien gave an interesting paper on the mot- to, "While maltipg new friends, don't forget the old," which had been , prepared by Mrs. Garnet Taylor. Sixteen members and three visitors were present and the roll call was answered by in- troducing the lady on your left. Minutes were read and approv- ed and the treasurer's report showed that the February euchre party • was a success. Plans were made for another euchre party on Monday eve- ning, March 8, with Mrs. John Miller, Mrs. Lloyd Miller and Miss Olive Speare, the commit. tee in charge. The new by-laws for Perth County Women's Institute were read and approved. Two letters from the Institute's adopted child were passed around for everyone' to read. Ten dollars was voted to be sent to the International Scholarship fund. As this was the international meeting, Mrs. John Templeman presented a paper on Ireland. Mrs. Carter Kerslake intro- duced the guest speaker for the afternoen, Mrs. Calvin' Christie, Cromarty, who gave an inter- esting talk and showed slides on the trip she and her hus- bane had enjoyed to Scotland and parts of England last fall: Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. Lloyd Miller. The March meeting was re- viewed and plans are under- way for entertaining the senior citizens at this meeting. Recent visitors with Mr. and. Mrs. Cliff Miller - and _family, were Mr. and Yers. Two colorful films were showre one, "Beaver Dams" and the other, "A Winter Camp -Out," filmed by CKNX-TV, Some of the Egmondville Scouts were in this film. Mr. and Ws. Reuben Buuck and Mrs. Russell Shol- dice were in charge of devotions with the Lenten theme in psalm, scripture, prayer and a short _ topic, "Sundays With Strange Sounding , Names Be- fore Lent," by Mrs. R. Buck. Lenten hymns were sung with Mrs. R. Sholdice accompanying on the piano in the absence of the pianists, Mrs, Ron Hine and Mrs. Lloyd Prueter. A reading, "Accept ' the chance tq do a kindness wheel it is needed," was given. Pastor Brill then took over with the continua- tion of the Creed, the thirdpor- tion followed by a discussion period. Jack Gloor, the president, was in charge of the business. A discussion was held on the post light for the parsonage Iawn, and it was left to the next meeting to see if it would be better to have • lights installed on the parsonage and church instead of the .post light, to brighten up the lawn and both entrances of the parsonage and church. • Two , attendance teams were picked, with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hinz and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hoegy, as captains. During the evening envelopes were addressed which included the pastoral letter. Lehten booklet, Purchased by this or- ganization and lenten offering envelopes from the LCW which were sent 'out to the congrega- tion. • Eight couples attended a minstrel show in Stratford on Feb. 9, 'with lunch afterwards at the Plaza Restaurant. Pro- grams printed by Pastor Brill, giving the names of executives and committees, were handed to the members. .The next meeting is to be held the lake Tuesday evening of March, with Mr, and Mrs. Ronald 'Hinz and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fischer in charge. Mrs. Les Delmage opened the meeting With the Call to Worship, fol- lowed by the Lord's Prayer. Hymn 280 was sung, and the Ten Commandments were read in unison. A poem was read by Mrs. Eric Anderson. The minutes were read and the offering was received by Mies Marie McClure. Mrs. Les Dolmage read a poem entitled, "New Year's Dessert." The stu- dy was from "The Word and the Way — 'God the Creator' chapter. A short program fol- lowed by Mit. Allen Campbell.
