Plans for the annual dinner
meeting of the Seaforth, Cham-
ber of Commerce were advanc-
ed at a meeting of the execu-
tive Tuesday evening.

Cliff Broadfoot, municipal im-
provement committee chairman,
detailed action that had been
taken to complete the street -
naming project and discussed
plans for. introducing a street
numbering system.

Sale was announced recently
of The Cannirlgton Gleaner- to
Mr. and Mrs. R. James Wallace,
publishers of The Beaverton
Express. The sale was effective
on Monday, Nov. 16.
The Cannington weekly news-
paper has been owned and op-
erated by J. Ernest Roberts for
the past 25 years. until his death
iii August. Since'that time it
has been operated by his wife
and his daughter, Mrs. Margaret
Shier, • and presswork has been
carried out at the Beaverton of-
fice. �-
Mrs. Shier will continue to
manage the Cannington office
and do much of the typesetting
at that plant.
Mr. Wallace is a former Sea -
forth native "and was on the
staff of The Huron Expositor
until he purchased the Beaver-
ton paper in May 1963.

has been appointed executive
secretary for the .Tuberculosis
Associations of Perth and Hur-
on Counties- In Perth County,
Mrs. Davidson is taking over
.the duties carried out previous -
1y° by ;Mrs. E. G. Davis, who i$
retiring:Mrs. Davidson com-
mences her new duties Feb. 1.
Office quarters have been se-
cured at 7 Market Place, Strat-
ford. In Huron, Mrs. D. C.
Cornish, Seaforth, will continue
to act as Christmas Seal sales
secretary.
Mrs. Davidson was born in
Stratford, attended Stratford
schools and after graduating
from high school took nurses'
training at t. Joseph's Hospital,
Hamilton. • She has followed her
profession in Listowel, Wingham
and Stratford; and has for some
time been on the staff of the
Stratford Public Health Depart-
ment.
Mrs. Davidson is a widow and
has three daughters. She is a
member of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Stratford.

Miss Angela Armitt, ofthe
staff of the University of West-
ern Ontario, who discussed ways
of "Keeping Young At Heart,"
said she first had heard of Sea -
forth through . square dance
groups, who had performed in
London.. She commended Mrs.

Mr. Pryce, in reviewing the
'ear's activity, expressed thanks
or the work the Chamber of
Commerce' had done in arrang-
ing . merchants' displays in
charge of Garnet Stockwell and
William Storey. He said new
bleachers had been erected and
other improvements carried out,
While the weather had been un-
fortunate, the fair had been
successful, he said. A total of
$5,183.65 was paid out in .priz-
es. Cost of the new grandstand
was set at $1,368,00.
Nineteen boarddirectors
were recommended by a nom-
inating committee headed by
Robert E. McMillan and elected
by the meeting. They are: Har-

McSpadden, RR 1, Seaforth; Ro-

Honorary presidents named
were: Russell T. Bolton, Rob-
ert W. Campbell, Gordan Pap -
Arle, Robert E. McMillan and
thur Nicholsorr. They are all
past presidents of the associa-
tion.
The congregation of First
Presbyterian Church reviewed
a successful year at the annual
meeting Monday evening.
Following a pot -luck supper,
a short service, was conducted
by the minister, Rev. D. 0. Fry,
Frank Kling was named chair-
man, and F. R. Cosford, secre-
tary for the meeting..
Reports presented indicated
the congregation had raised
$22,644.95 for 'all purposes, and
that each organization was in
a thriving condition.
Reporting for . the board of
managers, Mr. Cosford told of
projects completed during the
year, including shingling the
manse roof. The meeting dis-
cussed work contemplated , in
the future, which will include
redecoration of the church and
rearrangement of schoolroom
accommodation.
Tribute to th?'work of Mr.
Fry was expressed by M. Mc-
Kellar, and the, meeting ap-
proved an increase in his sti-
pend.A budget commitment of
$,024.00 for 1965 was accept -
