thanked Mrs. Stewart Bell for
decorating the Sunday School,
lovely in Christmas motif. Mrs.
Robert Bell and Mrs. Al Hog-
garth volunteered to decorate
the church for Christmas Sun-
day.
Life membership certificates
were presented to Mrs. John
Baker, Mrs. Scholl and Mrs.
Skea by Mrs. Stewart Bell. Mrs.
John Baker introduced Mr. Geo.
Vriese, of Exeter, who showed
pictures of his trip home to
Holland last year. He was
thanked by Mrs. Gerald Bell and
presented with a basket of fruit.
Worship in the form of a
candle -lighting service was tak-
en by Mrs. --john Baker and Mrs.
Gerald Bell, 'assisted by Mrs.
Harold _Bonthron, Mrs. Robert
Bell and Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Al
Scholl, Mrs. Ed. Fink and Mrs.
Stewart Bell.

A cockroach was eating on
the floor of a restaurant when
another cockroach came run-
ning in, all excited. "Wow!"
M cried, "you should see the
new restaurant they're building
across the street. All chrome
and shining tile and plastic."
"Please," the first cockroach

tained at a linen shower in
London. Mrs. Warren Sanders,
Exeter, held a kitchen shower
at her hdrne. Mrs. George Shaw
entertained at a trousseau tea.

Donald MacKinnon, Hensall,
mother of the groom. Miss
LaurettaSiegner attended the
door.
The tea table was covered
with a white linen cutwork cloth
centered with an arrangement
of white 'and yellow mums with
gold pines and white tapers. '

CGIT Receive Gifts
The CGIT girls of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met Wed-
nesday night, opening with a
prayer and hymn. The lesson
was read by Marjorie Schwalm,.
and the Bible study taken by
the 'leader, Miss L. McFalls, on
'Gleanings in Genesis.'! Gifts
were presented to the girls by
Miss McFalls.

Presentation '
Mrs. W. H. Bell was hostess
at her home Wednesday eve-
ning for a farewell party, for
Mrs. Fred Broadley, when mem-
bers of the bowling tearri, of
which she was a member, gath-
ered to honor' her -and to pre-
sent her with gifts. The presen-
tation address was read by Mrs.
Clarence Reid, and 'gifts pre-
sented -by Mrs. Hugh McEwen.
Mrs. Garnet Mousseau con-
ducted a recreational period of
crokinole and the winners were
Mrs. Louis Sehilbe, Zurich; Mrs.
Clarence Reid and Mrs. Byran
Kyle, HenSall. Luncheon was
sexy ed.

Browpies Hold Concert
An enjoyable Christmds con-
cert by the Hensall Brownies
was held Tuesday evening. The
Nativity scene was the. theme
usedthroughout, and included
Christmas readings and carols.
Following the concert, a Christ-
mas story was told .by Brown
OwI Mrs. Robert Cook.
John Anderson won the an-
nual Christmas turkey „shoot at
Kippen over the weekend, scor-
ing on 46 of 50 shots in the
handicap event. Bill Stewart,
Godericli, who won the two miss'
and out event, finished second
to Anderson, making 45 of 50
shots. He won four turkeys.
The shoot was sponsored by the.
Kippen Gun Club.
Robert Mickle, U.W.O., Lon-
don, spenethe weekend with
friends in Chatham and Sar-
nia,
Mr. Charles Mickle, Hamil-
ton, and Robert, of U.W.O.,
London ,are spending their
Christmas vacation with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Mickle and Ann.
Lou Simpson is spending
the Christmas vacation with
members of her family in Roy-
al Oak and Birmingham,' Mich.
At the regular .meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge Wednes-
day everting, presided over by
Noble Grand Mrs, J. Ingram,
the CP & T committee report-
ed they are distributing plants
to the shutins for Christmas.
Sixteen Christmas boxes for
shutins' and older members of
Carmel Presbyterian Church
were packed at the home of
Mrs. Earl Campbell Thursday
afternoon by members of the
Women's Missionary Society,
and delivered to members in
the Queensway Nursing Home,
Huronview and South Huron
Hospital.
John Tudor, who is attending
University of British Columbia
in Vancouver, is spending the
Christmas holidays with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Tudor,
Mr. and Mrs. Blighton 'Ferg
are spending Christmas Day at
Atwood with the latter's moth-
er, Mrs. Mabel Bailie, and mem-
bers of her family, thecelebra-
tion featuring a reunion of all
the families... • •
