Rochus Faber, Bert Faber and Robert McGregor left Kippen by motor Tuesday of last week for Saskatchewan, and intend purchasing stocker cattle. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Littleton and baby daughter, of London, visited over the weekend with the latter's sister and brother- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Faber.. Storey• Family A party at No, 9 Tuckersmith School to honor Mr. and Mrs. Morley, Storey and family after their move to Seaforth, was held Saturday night. A full house of former neighbors en- joyed an evening of euchre. High -ladies' prize was won by Mrs. Wilmer Broadfoot; ladies' low, Mrs. Jim Upshall; men's high, Jim Chalmers; men's low, Stan Jackson; travelling lone hand, Bob Upshall. The Storey family were then called to the front and were presented with several useful gifts. Ivan Forsyth read the address: "Dear Morley, Bea- trice and Family: Some eigh- teen years ago, shortly after the Second World War in which you served with the Canadian Armed Forces, and after your discharge from the Army, this community was happy to have you and Beatrice and your lit- tle family .start farming in our midst. Since then we have seen that young family grow up in- to fine young girls and young ladies. • You both proved to be good neighbors' and were always ready to give a helping hand. This neighborhood was sorry when you decided to move out, so we are gathered here tonight to spend a social hour with• you, and we would ask 'you' to accept these gifts as a small token of the esteem in which you are held on the Eighth Concession, and may health and happiness be• your portion in your new home. — Your Friends and Neighbors." Morley made• a fitting reply, after which everyone joined in singing, 'Tor They Are ., Jolly Good Fellows." Lunch wasserv- ed to conclude the evening. Green and white labels have been sorted into mail boxes across Canada this week as a guide in helping you prepare bundles of cards for local and out-of-town mailing. This year, please note the change in postage rates—three cents on all unsealed Christmas cards. There are receptacles in the lobby clearly marked: local 3 - cent cards; out -.of -town 3 -cent cards, and first-class mail. Your local post office staff appreciates the co-operation we have received in the past in the cards being mailed early and tied in bundles. This year, with the new look at the office, we request that you put your new box number on your re- turn address and advise your friends to note the change in number. The wicket lobby will be op- en all day on December 12 and 19 for your convenience. LOCAL BRIEFS Mr. Ed. Fischer, Seaforth, has returned home after being con- fined in Stratford General Hos- pital. Mrs. W. A. Wright has re- turned home after spending two months with her daughter in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. and 'Mrs. Walter Grover, of London, were the weekend visitors of their mother, Mrs. Will Kerr, McKillop. Mr.' Alphonse Meagher, Fort Garry, Man.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stock, Anne Marie and Bernard, London; Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Morrison, Waterloo ; Mr. and Mrs. John Meagher, Stratford; and Sgt. .F. H. Os- borne and Mrs. Osborne and Terry, of Trenton', visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Meagher. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hawley spent a few days in London re- cently CROMARTY NEWS' OF THE WEEK MisS Ina Jefferson, of London, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jef- ferson. Miss Wanda McLaren and Miss Norma Parkhouse, of Nipis- sing, visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Keith McLaren. Miss Nettie, McCurdy is a patient in South Huron Hospi- tal, Exeter, suffering from in- juries receiyed in a fall at her home. Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Binning, Richard, Robert and Jane, of Mitchell, visited Sunday with Mrs. Binning's parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. McKellar. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McGhee, who are moving from Mitchell to Strathroy to reside, visited friends in the village on Sun- day. The vesper service of the CG IT, under the leadership of Mrs. M. LaMond, was held in the church schoolroom on Sunday evening with a good attendance. WMS Meets Mrs. E. Moore was hostess to the Cromarty Women's Mission- ary Society for their December meeting. Mrs. K. McKellar pre- sided and the Christmas service of worship in the Glad Tidings was followed. The Scripture lesson was read by, Mrs, Grace Scott, and Mrs. Calder McKaig read the medi- tation. Several Christmas hymns were sung with Mrs. Moore at the piano. Eleven members an- swered the roll call with a Christmas verse. The offering was received and dedicated by Mrs. William Harper. Mrs. M. Lamond led in the Glad Tidings Prayer. A suitable topic for the Christmas season was given by Mrs. Mervin Dow. 141rs. T. Laing read an interesting letter from Mrs. Lillian Dickson. Mrs. Calder McKaig conduct- ed the annual business period, When reports were given by the various secretaries. The treas- urer reported a satisfactory crease in in the 1964 givings. Miss Sally Nott, Reg.N., of London, spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Raymond Nott, in Egmondville. Misses Bess and Peg Grieve, of Egmondville, were guests of Mrs. Earle Bell in Toronto- last weekend. Mr.' and Mrs. Harold Jackson are spending a few weeks in St. Petersburg, 'Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Regier held a house-warming 'party their new home on Saturday night. There were twenty-five present. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glanville have sold their farm in McKril- lop to Orville Beuerman and purchased- Braeside Rest Home in Mitchell from Mrs. Lillian Boyes. The change took place the first of December. Dr. and Mrs. Mary Bowers, of Stratford, called on Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Adams last week. Mrs. Ernest Geddes and Miss Mary visited with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Geddes in London last week. Mr. and Mrs: Glenford Rose left 'Wednesday for ,St. Peters- burg, Fla., where they will spend the winter. In the recent annual Grey Cup contest, sponsored by Branch 156 Royal Canadian Legion,:the winning combination was held by Mrs. Les Pryce, who was awarded the $500 prize.
