Thirty-six attractive .Christ-
mas boxes were packed and
delivered to sick and shutins
of Hensall United Church In the
village, Huronvrew, and hospi-
tals,' on Wednesday by the
Friendship and Visitation com-
mittee UCW of the church. In
charge of the project were
Mrs. Ernie Chipchase, Mrs,
Pearl Passmore, Mrs. R. J.
Drysdale, Mrs: Harvey Keys
'and Mrs. J. Ferguson.
Make Donations
The Christmas meeting and
party of Amber Rebekah Lodge
was held Wednesday evening,
when the hall was decorated in
Christmas motif. Noble Grand
Mrs. J. F. Ingram presided
Donations were voted to the
War Memorial Children's Hos-
pital,- London, and Children's
Shelter, Goderich. At the con-
clusion of the meeting a Christ-
mas program was presented, in-
cluding Christmas carols, and
readings by Miss Mattie Ellis
and Mrs. Alex McBeath.
,Auxiliary Sets Plans
Mrs. Roy Smale was return-
ed to office as president for
1965 of the Ladies' Legion Aux-
iliary at their Christmas meet-
ing, held in the Legion Hall,
Hensall,, Tuesday evening..
Other officers are: first vice-

ond vice-president, Mrs. Garnet
Allan; secretary, Mrs. William

theme of the meeting, and
Christmas carols, under direc-

Mrs. Laird Mickle favored
with piano selections, "Bless
This House" and "How Great
Thou Art." The devotional was
taken by Mrs.; W. H. Weekes,
Mrs. Albert Alexander, Mrs.
Stanley Mitchell and Mrs. W:
B. Cress. Mrs. McAllister gave
the study, a Christmas story,
"By Invitation of Jesus."
During the business session
the bale was discussed when it
was disclosed to the meeting
that one carton of good used
clothing had been forwarded to
Dr. Margaret Whiting, Hazel-
ton, B.C.; one carton to the Sal-
vation Army, London, "and sev-
eral to Toronto for overseas
relief.
Mrs. McAllister reported for
the executive meeting held at
her home recently, when it was
decided to, carry on for another
year.
- The draw for two • Christmas
cakes, annual prOject of the
Kinette Club took place Satur-
day evening in Taylor's Ready -
to -Wear store and the winners
are: Mrs. Parker Campbell,
Wingham, and Miss Linda Koeh-
ler, Hensall. Mrs. Campbell is
the mother of Kinette Mrs. Don.

Mr. Eric Kennedy is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.

People met together at Hensall
United Church on Sunday, unit-
ing 31 teenagers. Dave Brock's
group was in charge of the pro-
gram. Eric Ross, John Goddard,
Pat Harris and Dave Brock took
part in the devotions. A Christ-
mas service will be held Dec.
20. A film was shown which
was called, "The Champs of
Sports." Eric Ross and Dave
Brock led in a discussion about
semi -classical, popular and spir-

White gladioli, stocks and

ed the setting. in First Presby-
terian Church, Westminster,
California, for the marriage of
Margaret Lynne Haney, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs, Clair Haney,
Garden Grove, to William H.
Huhn III, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. H. Huhn, Jr., Westminster.
Rev. Jay M. Campbell officiat-
ed at the double -ring ceremony.
Mrs. Christina Lovas, organist
of the church, accompanied the
soloist, Mr. Earl French, who
sang: "I Love You Truly "Be-
cause" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride, given in marriage
by her father,' wore a floor -
length gown of white duchess
Satin with a chantilly lace
train. A white gardenia, trim-
med with seed pearls, held the
shoulder -length veil. She 'car-
ried • a white bouquet of carna-
tions :.and miniature roses.
The attendants wore identi-
cal gowns of 'slipper satin with
•coop neckline, finger - tip
sleeves and bell-shaped skirts
with matching peau de • soie
accessories. Miss Linda Butler,
maid of honor, chose tangerine
with a cascade of bronze mums.
Miss Patricia 'Layton, brides-
maid, wore brown with a cas-
cade of tangerine mums.
Michael. Layton was best man
and ushers were Craig, and
Charles' Haney and Ronald
Rondriquez. Miss Lin Jabor
was in charge' of the registry.
A short reception was held at
the church, during' which the
cutting of the four-tiered,.white

wedding cake was filnied.
Following - the ceremony, a
wedding dinner was 'served to
the newlyweds and guests at
the home of Mr. and Mrs., W.
H. Huhn, Jr. The bride's moth-
er received the guests wearing
an off-white suit, with match-
ing accessories and wore a cor-
sage of tangerine orchids. The
groom's mother received wear-
ing a turquoise blue lace sheath
with matching three-quarter
length coat. She wore a cor-
sage of • white carnations.
For travelling to Lake Ar -
'towhead, Big' Bear Mts., the
bride wore a gown of rustic.
orange Italian silk, under chif-
fon, with off-white accessories,
and a corsage of ' miniature
white roses. .On their return
they will reside in Westminis-
ter,

, MRS. JAMES NEWTON
There passed away at her
home in Toronto suddenly on
Sunday, Hazel Thompson, widow
of the late .James Newton. Mrs.
Newton was a former head mil-
liner in the John MacTavish
store here, coming. to Seaforth
from Tweed. She was the
daughter of the 'late Dr. and
Mrs. Thompson, of Listowel.
MRS. JAMES McMARTIN
Passed , away at Victoria Hos-
pital, Lbndon, Thursday, Edith
Bonthron, beloved wife of the
late James McMartin,-,, of -'Lon-
don, formerly of Barrie, in her
87th year. She was born in
Hensall, daughter of the late
Mr.. and Mrs. Robert Bonthron.
Surviving are two daughters,
(Margaret) Mrs. H. Holroyde,
London; (Ruth) Mrs. John Hic-
key, Hudson, Ohio; one son,
Charles, Windsor; one brother,
Fred G. Bonthron, and one sis-
ter, Mrs. Louise Simpson, Hen-
sall; 11 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Public funeral services were
held from the Bonthron Fun-
eral Home, Hensall, Sunday at
5 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. C.
Boyne, of Exeter. Interment
was in Barrie Union Cemetery
Monday, Dec. 7.

• Robert James Green, 71, of
Port Stanley, formerly of Hen-
sall, a retired Shell Oil Com-
pany employee, passed away at
his home Sunday.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Aldora Smith; two
daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Dorothy
Wilma) Kipfer, • RR 1, Varna;
Mrs, Alvin (Lois) Litt, London;
one sister, Mrs. G. Stewart, Lon-
don.
The late Mr. Green rested at.
the P. R. Williams & .. Son. fun
eral home, St. Thomas, until
Wednesday morning. The fun-
eral at 2 p.m. Wednesday was
held at Bonthron Funeral Home,
Hensall, with burial in Exeter
cemetery.

under direction of Mrs. Robert
Reaburn, Mrs. Edison Forrest
and Mrs, Ron Mock, met separ-
ately in the - church Sunday
School rooms Monday evening
to complete the business of the
%.ear. Following the business
period the units combined for
a Christmas program.
Mrs. Forrest chaired It h e
meeting, opening with a Christ-
mas verse; Scripture passages
were read by ,Mrs. Reaburn, and
the devotional by Mrs. Mock.
Christmas carols were sung,
with Mrs. William Fuss accom-
panist, and a reading by Mrs.
Doug Cook was enjoye,d.
Mrs. Chester Lee has return-
ed honie from Stratford Gen-
eral Hospital, where she was a
patient, having undergone eye
surgery.
- Jerry prysdale, so . of
and Mrs. R. J. Drysdale, en -
sail, has.been awarded the Vis-
count Richard Bedford Bennett
scholarship of $200 for good
work in forestry at the Univers-
ity of New Brunswick, Frederic-
ton, during the past year. Jerry
is a graduate of South Huron
District High School.
Mrs. Otto Smale, of Glencoe,
formerly of Hensall, is a pa-
tient in Strathroy General Hos-
pital,. suffering with a fractured
leg caused from a fall in her
home last Friday.
Brownies Enrolled
Six Brownies were enrolled
in the First Hensall Brownie
Pack by District Commissioner
Mrs. Thomas Lavender, Hen-
sall. They were: Janie Heal,
Joan Allan, Joan Goddard, Mary
Lou Scott, Patty Van Wieren,
and Diane Chuter.
After the enrolment playlet,
Mrs. Lavender took the Brown-
ies on an imaginary trip to
Australia. She displayed num-
erous articles received from
her Australian pen pal. Brown-
ies also, enjoyed a hockey game
directed by Mrs. Barry Jack-
son, and a Christmas story told
by .Mrs:' Rodger. Venner. At
the close of the meeting Mrs.
Lavender 'took the salute.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross MacMil-
lan and David, of Kitchener,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Laird Mickle and Ann.'
Garry Moir, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Moir, had his ton-
sils removed it Clinton Public
Hospital last Friday.
Eighteen members of Hensall
Kinsmen Club canvassed the
village Thursday evening ' and
:sold 240 boxes of .peanuts, with
proceeds for service work.

Mr. 'Charles Johnson, of Clin-
ton, visited last Thursday eve-
ning with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur
.Jewitt and family.
Congratulations are extended
to Miss Kathy Dale on winning
the Warden's Novice Trophy, as,
the novice member obtaining
the highest standing a%the Hu-
ron County 4-H Achievement
Night, held in Wingham on Fri-
day night;' also to Miss Deanna
Dale of obtaining an award cer-
tificate on .completing six pro-
jects.
The CGIT girls met at the
home *of Mrs. Reg Lawson last
Tuesday evening. The girls are
holding their Vesper Service in
Londesboro, Sunday evening.

The Londesboro, Burns, Con-
stance Young People met in
Londesboro • Sunday evening,
Dec. 6. The meeting opened by
a sing -song, led by Ken Scott
and Barbara Snell. The worship
'service opened by singing Hymn
441, "Guide Me, 0 Thou Great
Jehovah." Scripture lesson,
Psalm 15, read 'by Janice Jew-
itt. Offering was received and
David Preszcator gave a prayer.
Gary Jewitt spoke on the
topic, "Communism". Bonnie
Snell and Norma McDougall led
in two discussion groups. Hymn
49, "Brightness and Best of the
Sons of the Morning," was sung
and Bernice Hunking closed the
worship with prayer. Business
was discussed on a trip to To-
ronto. Thomas Riley was in
charge of the recreation, and
