day, Nov. 21st, at 3 p.m., has
been feted at several pre -nup-
tial presentations in her honor.
Mrs. Harold CaldWell, Hen-
sall, was hostess for a miscel-
laneous shower for her sister
on Thursday evening, Nov. 5th,
attended by 30 relatives and
friends. The presentation ad-
dress was read by Miss Pat
Jones; Kathy and Karen Kyle
and Jamie Caldwell presented
the many beautiful gifts.
Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, Kippen,
entertained at her home Satur-
day evening for the 4-H Club,
of which the bride -elect was a
former member.. Mrs. Bell
made the presentation of two
dresser lamps, following the
address read by Mrs. Edna Cald-
well.
Mrs. Emmerson Kyle, Kippen,
aunt of Bonnie, was hostess at
her home Monday evening when
relatives and friends gathered
to honor her with a miscellan-
eous shower. The address was
read by Mrs. Eric Mansfield and
lifts were presented by Debbie
Kyle.

South Huron WI Meets
The board of directors of
South Huron Women's Insti-
tutes held their fall meeting
in Hensalr Town Hall Monday,
with all branches represented.
Mrs. Garnet 1 -licks, of Huron -
dale, reported on the area con-
vention held at St. Thomas in
November, and Mrs. Leonard
Schenk, of Dashwood, gave
highlights of the fall rally held
at Hensall recently.
Zurich extended an invita-
tion to hold the 1965 district
annual in Zurich, May 18. Pen-
nies for Friendship was discuss-
ed. The spring board of direc-
tors' meeting will be held April
6th in tHensall.

dies' Auxiliary 468, held Tues
day evening in the Legion Hall
Hensall, when nominations for
the 1965 officers were' held.. The
charter was draped in memory
of the late Mrs. Laurene Mc-
Kenzie. Plans were laid' and
committees appointed to can-
vass the village for the sale of
poppies.
For their Christmas meeting
,in December, members will ex-
change gifts. The winner of
the 50-50 draw for November
was Mrs. Edna Hay, of Zurich,
who received $23.00, the auxil-
iary receiving the same amount.
This will be a monthly draw.
The door prize was won by.
Mrs. Ed. Munn; guessing prize,
Mrs. John Skea, and mystery
prize, Mrs. William Smale.
Metz,. France, has announced
.the promotion of Sergeant D. A.
(Donald) Orr, 30, to the rank
of Flight Sergeant, effective
October 1st. The son of Mr..
and Mrs. R. A.. Orr, 113 King
St., Hensall, F/S Orr is a tele-
graph technician on the staff
of 601 Squadron, which pro-
vides communications to link
all units of Canada's NATO Air
Division. He served overseas
at Fourth Allied Tactical Air
Force headquarters from Feb-
ruary, 1957, to February, 1959,
and while in Germany met the,
former Margareta Mader, of
Trier, whom he married in Hen-
sall on August 8, 1959. • He be-
gan his second tour of over-
seas duty in June this year.
Hold Dedication
Ceremony
The IOOF and Rebekahs of
Hensall Lodge held a dedication
ceremony Friday evening of an �
altar, gift of the family of the
late W. R. Dougall; and a Bible
of London, in memory of her
-late .husband. The altar was
dedicated by Past District De-
puty Ross Nichols, of Brussels.
Introduced by Charles Hay, he
was thanked by Earl Campbell,
P.D.D.G-M. .
Noble Grand • Rodger Venner
presided far the: meeting and
extended a welcome to all IOOF
Rebekahs and friends. Miss
Joyce • Flynn was soloist and
Miss Anne Mickle, accompanist.
Miss Mattie Ellis contributed a
reading. Robbie Witmer, Gode-
rich, winner of the United Na-
tions Youth Pilgrimage, spon-
sored by the lodges of Huron
District, told of his trip and he
was thanked by Percy Campbell,
P.D.D.G.M.
Attending were Mrs. John D.
Reid and Miss Minnie Reid, of
London, representing the Reid
family: Mrs. G. E. Walker, Hen-
sall; Mrs. Doug Hughson, Exe-

their home at. Champaign, Ill.,
Friday after spending two

Two teams of bowlers froth
Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxil-
iary participated in a bowling
tournament at Exeter Wednes-
day. They were Mrs. Garnet
Allan, Mrs. Howard Smale, Mrs.
William Smale, Mrs. Haarold
Campbell, Mrs. Gordon. Munn,
Mrs. Jack Simmons, Mrs. Mary
Taylor, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs.
William H. Bell, Mrs. William
Forrester, Mrs. Roy Smale and
Mrs. Grant Bisback.
In the Branch draw Mrs. Gor-
don Munn was the winner•; Mrs.
Howard Smale won the door
prize, a barbecue set; Mrs. Wm.
Forrester, a carton of Pepsis;
Mrs. Harold Campbell and Mrs.
Howard'Smale won a prize; and
Mrs. H. Horton,Mrs. M. Taylor

Unit Two UCW Meets
Mrs. Edison Forrest took
charge of the November meet-
ing' of Unit two UCW, opening
with a poem and prayer. Mrs.
Byran Kyle conducted the de-
votional period, using the
theme, ."Remembrance." Sacred
passages were read by Mrs. Oli-
ver Jaques. Mrs. Jack Corbett
gave the study on Trinidad, and
Mrs. Ed. Corbett presided for
a recreational period. A film-
strip on "Trinidad" was shown.
Business included final arrange-
ments for the Snowflake bazaar,
scheduled to, be held Nov. 28.
For the December meeting, Un-
its 1, 2 and 3 will hold a joint
Christmas meeting 'the first
Monday of December. Mrs.
Forrest and Mrs. Harold Dig-
nan were hostesses, with Mrs.
Doug' Mann and Mrs. Dave Kyle
as assistants.
Scouts Plan Activities
At a recent meeting of the
local association of Hensall
Guides and Brownies, four new
leaders were introduced, and
they were Captain Mrs. Robert
Baker, Lieutenant Mrs. - Robert
Caldwell, and Tawnies Mrs. Rod-
ger Venner and Mrs. Barry
Jackson.
Plans were made for the an -
MEMBERS of the Seaforth Junior Farmers and Insti-
tute plat a fashion show in the SDHS auditorium on Friday,
November 20th. Shown modelling some of the styles that
be displayed are Donna Gordon and Jaen McLaughlin,

The First Hensall Brownies
arranged a party to honor for-
mer Guiders, Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale and Mrs. George Sinker.
On behalf of the Brownies, each
was given a Brownie cup and
saucer by Catharine Anne
Christie and Dorothy Skea.
During the Fairy Ring cere-
mony, Tenderfoot pins were
presented to the new Tawny
Owls, Mrs. Rodger Venner and
Mrs. Harry Jackson.
Rebekah Lodge Meets
The regular meeting 9f Am-
ber Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening with Noble
-Grand Mrs. J. F. Ingram presid-
ing. A donation will be sent to
the IOOF Home in Barrie for
their Christmas party. A so-
cial has been planned for the
next meeting, with proceeds for
the Children's Shelter iri" Gode-
rich, ' each member to bring a
small item suitable for a prize.•
The Christmas party will be
held the first meeting in De-
cember. In the recent report
of the installation of officers,
the gift to the District Deputy
President, Mrs. Beaver, was
presented by the Junior Past
Noble Grand, Mrs. Clarence
Volland, instead of Noble Grand
Mrs. Ingram.
Mrs. H."' Knight is Winner
The regular meeting of Hen -
sail Kinettes was held Wednes-
day evening at the home of Mrs.
Jim Hyde, following a canvass
of the village selling tickets on
their annual Christmas cake
draw.
The Kinettes e x p'r e s s e d
thanks to the community of
Hensall for their support in re-
ojects 1
annual fall rummage sale and
Christmas cake draw. Gifts for
their adopted Italian child were
brought to the meetings. Kins-
men and Kinettes will visit pa-
tients in Goderich Ontario Hos-
pitaI to entertain them and
present them with gifts. The
next meeting, Nov. .25th; will
be 'held at the home of Mrs.
Doug Johnston.
Mrs. Harold Knight won the
raffle, and in in the social por-
tion the winner was president.
Mrs. John Baker, who chaired
the meeting.
UCW Discusses
Envy Problem
The United Church Women
Unit four November meeting
was held in the United Church
on Thursday with Mrs. E. T.
Rowe and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling
in charge with Mrs. Rowe in
the chair. The worship service
was in charge of Mrs. James
McAllister, using the theme,
"Envy." Scripture reading • was
by . Mrs. Jarvis Horton, giving
a vivid description of whatenvy
can do. Mrs. McAllister' gave a
Meditation. In her talk she
said in, each case envy brought
destruction 'and death. Let us
love excellence for its own sake,
she continued; let us be 'thank:
ful for our mercies. We never
envy those we love.
As a special musical number,
recorded vocal music from Trin-
idad and Brazil was enjoyed.
The mission study oh Brazil
was presented bya panel in-
cluding Mrs. Elgin Rowcliffe,
Mrs. Ernest Chipchase, Mrs.
Leona Parke, with Mrs. Rowe as
leader. Most 'Canadians '•' know
less about Latin America than
about any other part of the
world, and Brazil is the larg-
est country in Latin America,
with four times as large a popu-
lation as Canada and has been
a mission field for several cen-
turies. Several of our mission-
aries are at work there, half of
the people there can neither
read nor write. Brazil is a na-
tion is search of its soul. Mrs.
Rowe gave courtesy remarks.

Holds Bazaar .
. The annual bazaar held at
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
Hensall, Saturday was success-
ful, the fancy work, home pro-
duce, bake table and afternoon
tea doing a rushing business.

Mrs. John McMurtrie had the
misfortune to all in her home
on Monday, -fracturing her
wrist.

dard were in St. Thomas Sun-
day where a film on skating
was shown in the arena audi-
torium.
Mrs. J. D, Reid, of London,
was a weekend guest with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart McQueen.
Mr. Duncan Stewart was ad-
mitted to Huronview on Mon-
day of this week, where he will
spend the winter months.

home from Scott Memorial Hos-
pital, Seaforth.

World Wars, Remembrance Day
was observed in Hensall Wed-
nesday with a service at the
Cenotaph at 12 noon, when the

Set Store Hours
For Christmas
Hensall businessmen agreed
on Christmas store hours at a,
meeting at the Commercial Ho-
tel. Stores "will open every
Monday in December, as well
as Friday and Saturday eve-
nings. The stores will also re-
main open each evening till 9
o'clock during Christmas week.
Santa Claus will visit Hensall
Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 o'clock
in the afternoon. There will be
a free picture show 'and treats
for the children, and free skat-
ing in the Hensall Arena Sat-
urday afternoon during Decem-
ber and January. '
During January, February
and March, stores will be open
Friday nights till 9 o'clock and
closed Saturday nights. Com-
mencing in April, they will re-
main open Friday and Saturday
nights.

The November meeting of the
Senior Women's Missionary So-
ciety of Cannel Presbyterian
Churclii was held -Monday eve-
ning with president Mrs. Earl
Campbell presiding. Mrs. Robt.
Madge and Mrs. John Love were
in charge of the devotional. A
panel' discussion was held on
Outreach Through Evangelism
in India.
A brief meeting of the La-
dies' Aid followed, when it was
announced that the bazaar, bake
sale and tea, held Saturday af-
ternoon, realized approximate-
ly $175.00.
Will Skate in St. Thomas.
Miss Pauline Bell is a mem-
ber of the St. Thomas Figure
Skating Winter Club, where
she will skate each Sunday for
the next 20 weeks under direc-
tion of Professional Donald
Cumming of Chatham. Pauline
will also skate in Goderich for
the next 20 Saturdays, under
direction of John Caughell, of
St. Thomas.
