In sports circles, the girls'
volleyball teams, both junior
and senior, are getting under-
way in earnest, practising ev-
ery chance they can. The' foot-
ball game here Thursday against
Stratford ended with a score
of 7-6, for them, unfortunately,
Come on, boys!
The Bands' trip to Peterbor-
ough turned out very success-.

if not more, fun than they us-

Miss Mary Isabel Smith, Sea -
forth, ,filed Monday at Scott
Memorial Hospital, following a
long illness. She was a daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Smith, and was born and edu-
cated in Seaforth.
The only surviving member
of a family of five, she was ;in
her 75th year. She is survived
by nieces and nephews. She
was a member of First Presby-
terian Church and of the Bar-
bara Kirkman Society.

funeral service at the G. A.
Whitney funeral. home, Sea -
forth, Wednesday, and burial
followed in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery.

Hospital, London, on Saturday,

MRS. ROBERT READ
Mrs. Elizabeth Read, St.
Marys, died at her home on
Sunday evening, in her 81st
year. Mrs. Read was born in
Northern Ireland, coming to
Canada with her husba'nd'some
50 years ago. For some time the
family farmed in Blanshard
Township, moving to St. Marys
20 years ago.
Mrs. Read had been in poor
health forsome time and an
invalid since February of last
year., She was the daughter of
the late John Spence and June
McRae Spence. Her husband,
Robert Read, died in 1950. Mrs.
Read was a member of St.
Marys United Church. •
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. `Nelson (Betty) Cardno, of
Seaforth; two sons, Robert and
Spence, both of St. Marys, and

The ladies of St. Thomas' WA
met at the home. of Mrs. Har-
vey, Sr. The meeting opened
with the Gospel of St. Luke,

lowed by Members' Prayer,
Lord's Prayer, Mission Prayer,.
prayer for the Queen and pray-
er partners' prayer. Eleven
members and a guest answered
roll call.
Social Service report indicat-
ed four boxes were sent out last
month. Mrs. G. McGavin gave
out' monthly , bulletins which
were read through and discuss-
ed. Miss D. Parke reported on
preparations for the 75th anni-
versary. An invitation will be
extended to the church secre-
tary to attend the birthday on
November 3rd.
The meeting agreed •to remit
general maintenance pledge,
membership fees and Diocese
administrative expense fund. It
was decided to order 10 bulle-
tins this year instead of 15.

Celebrate Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Du-
charme celebrated the 25th an-
niversary- of their wedding with
a High Mass of Thanksgiving at
St. Patrick's - Roman Catholic
Church, Dublin, Saturday morn-
ing at 10 a,m. Their family of
12 children was all present.
A family dinner was held at
their home at 12 o'clock. In
the evening a reception was
held at the Brodhagen Com-
munity Centre for 'their rela-
tives, friends and neighbors.
Mr. and Mrs. Ducharme', were
presented with a purse of
money by Mr. Maurice Ryan.
Cook's orchestra supplied mus-
ic for dancing.
Mrs. Ducharme is the former
Yvonne Cant`in and the mar-
riage took place at St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church at St.
Joseph, Ont., by Rev. Father
Martin.
A progressive euchre party,
sponsored by' the Parent -Teach-
ers Association, was held Fri-
day night in St. Patrick's parish
hail at Dublin. Fifteen tables
were in play, with Mrs. Joseph
Delaney winning the ladies'
prize and Kenneth Coyne, :the
gentlemen's, Lunch was served
by the officers in charge, fol:
lowed with a social hour, with
music supplied by Cook's orch-
estra of Kinkora,

The October meeting 'as held
at the home of Mrs. Orville
Beuermann. Mrs. Ford Dicki-
son and Mrs. Harold Smyth had
charge of devotionals. Mrs.
Smyth read the scripture les-
son, the 67th Psalm, followed
by prayer. Mrs. Dickison read
a Thanksgiving poem, followed
by singing Hymn 97, "Come, Ye
Thankful -People Come." A
harvest poem vihs read by Mrs.
Smyth, and Mrs. Dickison gave
a reading, "The Trees of the
Lord, and Mrs. Smyth read,
"Much To Which To Be Thank-
ful." Mrs. Dickison closed with
a reading, "World Wide Thanks-
giving," followed with prayer
by Rev. Shatto.
Mrs. Alvin Beuermann, the
president, took over for the
business. The roll was called
with 12 members and two visi-
tors responding. • A crokinole
party'was planned for members
and their families on Monday
at Brodhagen Community. Cen-
tre. The November meeting
will be held at the church, with
Mrs. Nicola and Mrs. William
Koehler in charge of devotion-
als. Mrs. Shatto closed the
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. W. Krauskopf, of Dub-
lin, and Miss Zeta Connolly vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs. Jde
Thornton one evening last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd 'Regele,
of Woodstock, spent Thanksgiv-
ing weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Harold McCalium.
