Executive -Officeis for Year
All executive officers of the
Perth County Cream Producers'
Association will remain in of-
fice for another year.
At the annual meeting Thurs-
day evening in Campbell's Rec-
reation Room, Mitchell, Charles
CHARLES RONEY
Roney, RR 2, Dublin, was re-
elected president; Gerald Carey,
Cromarty, vice-president; Har-
ris Butson, Fullarton, second
vice-president, and C. E. Dear-
ing, RR 1, Staffa.
Name .Delegates
Voting delegates to the an-
nual meeting in Toronto, Nov.
17, will be these four officers,
plus Fergus Lannin, RR 2, Dub-
lin; Harold Patterson, RR 1,
Mitchell; Filmer Chappel, Crom-
arty, and one other, to be nam-
ed. Alternate delegates will be
Art Kemp, Staffa; John Gilbert,
Milverton, and Fred Schlotz-
hauer, RR 4, Stratford.
A resolution concerning the
annual meeting will be forward-
ed to the meeting by the Perth
group. It asks that it be made
compulsory for all voting dele-
gates to be engaged in the
production of farm - separated
cream. As it is, there is noth-
ing in the regulations to say a
delegate must be in the busi-
ness.
Glen Cole, of Bewdley, chair-
man of the Ontario Cream Pro-
ducers' Marketing Board and
chairman of the co-ordinating
board, discussed acid testing
part of the quality improve-
ment program introduced by
the cream producers in sections
of Ontario last year. The test
indicates cleanliness and keep-
ing qualities.
Mr. Cole said cream produc-
ars paid about $12,000 toward
`.he program. It guarantees the
:onsumer will get high-quality
products, and guarantees the
producer will keep his market,
and not lose it with poor pro-
ducts, Mr. Cole said.
The cream producers, Mr.
Cole said, will continue the pro-
gram. If and when the pro-
gram is enlarged to cover the
province, he said, the cost to
producers will be about $30,000.
Porth. County was included in
the improvement .program on
TACT: changing the subject
without changing yo{tr mind.
The science class was having
its final test and one of the
qudstions was: "Which are the
last teeth to appear in the
mouth?"
One youngster answered sim-
ply, "False." Perfect score.
an introductory basis this past
summer. .
Mr. Cole, who is also second
vice-president of the Dairy
Farmers of Canada, talked
about this organization, and its
allied group, the Dairy Farm-
ers' Service Bureau. About
$800,000 was collected across
Canada, on a check -off basis, he
said, to aid their programs.
Miss' Doris Poag, RR 1, Mit-
chell, the dairy princess for
Perth County, -said she hoped
all members would strive for
the highest quality product pos-
sible. She was presented with
a box of chocolates by Mr.
Roney.
Miss Poag also drew the door
prize ticket, with Harris Butson
the winner. Mr. Butson, in re-
viewing the dairy princess com-
petition, said 29 girls were in-
terview to find five for the con-
test.
