Rally At
Clinton
Mrs., Wesley- Bradnock pre-
sided at the fail rally of Hurotn
.Presbyterial WMS, held at. St:.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church,
Clinton. The theme was, "The
earth is the Lord's and the full-
ness thereof—the world and all
that is therein." . Mrs. Bradriock
gave an inspiring opening mes-
sage on "True Thanksgiving,"
Mrs. Harvey Hyde and Mrs. W,
Campbell, of Hensall, took the
devotions on "God's Master
,Plan," Rev. G. L. Royal, Gode-
rich, brought greetings from
Presbytery.
Following reports from de-
partmental secretaries, Miss
Clare Hanes, of Hamilton, re-
gional secretary, brought a mes-
sage on "The Aim and Purpose
of WMS," stressing the need for
each one to think of themselves
as . Christian workers for the
Kingdom of God. Mrs. R. Kers-
lake,, of Seaforth, moved a vote
of thanks to Miss Hanes. .
The devotions for the after-
noon session were ably ;taken
by Mrs. A. Erskine and Mrs. A.
Taylor, of Goderich, based on
the devotions used at the an-.,
niversary meetings at. Montreal.
on "Invitation - Challenge - Com-
mand." ,
Miss Eva Somerville, of Gode-
rich, introduced the guest
speaker, Miss Lily McArthur,
of Goderich;, who had attended*
the Montreal meetings. Miss
McArthur gave a fine report of
the highlights, and inspiration-
al experiences 'enjoyed by the
nearly 1500 women from all
across Canada who attended.
MissMcArthur, was thanked by
Mrs. A. Taylor, of Goderich.
Mrs. John Thompson, of Sea -
forth, conducted an "In Mem-
oriam" service in honor of de-
parted WMS .members.
A football landed in a chicken
yard one day, so the roaster
called all his hens together.
"I'm not grumbling, you under-
stand," he said, "but I just
want you to see what they're
doing 'in other yards."
A young civilian breezed in-
to the recruiting station one
day and announced he wanted
to enlist.
"Do you want a commission?"
asked the recruiting officer.
"No, thanks," Was the cocky
reply. "I'm such a lousy shot
that • I'd be better off working
on straight salary."
