Each. boy is required to sign
a contract with the_Perth Hol-
stein Club which binds the
youth to a positive beginning
in the purebred Holstein busi-
ness. In the contract the fol-
lowing points are stipulated:
Each 4-H member who' re-
ceives calves must in two years
time pay the Perth Holstein
Club the sum of $150.00 from
the sale of the bull calf, which
must be sold as a steer.
Each 4-H member agrees to
exhibit the heifer calf at the
County Black and White Show
and the County 4-H Champion-
ship Show at Stratford Fall
Fair.
The project is a co-operative
effort between the Perth Hol.
stein Association, the Perth 4-H
Club Leaders' Association, and
the County Extension Branch
personnel.: The Perth Holstein
Association, in co•-, operation
with the Extension Branch,
select the calves from area
Holstein Producers. The 4-H
.Club leader directors and .ex-
tension personnel select the
boys who are to receive calves.
In addition to the beneficial
aspects of educating 4-H youth,
Perth County Holstein officials
feel the program promotes
sound purebred stock for fu-
ture Holstein breeders; and
makes it possible for a 4H
member to get started with a
found purebred herd of Hol-
stein cattle.
