Something New in 'Education Planning
Something new in township schoolplanning got under
way in Tuckersmith this viieek as students were transported
from their home schools to schools teaching their particular
grades, Each teacher in the towinship area teaches only two
grades, instead of the eight grades as formerly was the case,
as a first. step in a move to provide graded schools. Here,

On Monday evening a presen-
tation was held at the home of
Mr. Frank Burns on behalf of
the patrons of Rural Route 2,
Dublin, whose mail he deliver-
ed for 40 years and- who re-
tired July 1st.
An address was read by Ed-
ward Melady, and ,a leather
lounge chair was presented to
Mr. Burns. Mr. Burns thanked
those who were present and al-
so wished to convey his thanks
to all the getrons on the rural
route.
A social hour was spent, af-
ter which Mrs. Burns served
lunch, assisted by Miss Monica
Byrne.

At Barbecue
The Seaforth Agricultural So-
ciety sponsored a successful
beef and pork barbecue at the
Arena on Wednesday.
A feature of the event was
drawing for prizes of barbecued
beef and pork, which were Won
by Wilfred Ahrens, William
Little, Lois Dungey and Eddie
Byers.

Summer Pool Program
Ends With Water Show

ed spectators watched Thursday
evening while swimmers at the
Lions pool demenstrated activi-
ties carried out during the sum-
mer progran0,14,11,•4•'-r.
The swinMling groups took
part in denionstrated, exhibi-
tions of - switriming, diiing and
sychronized Swimming, . set •to
the music of "A Summer Place"
and Wonderland By Night."
The crowd enjoyed the- rough
but lively game of water polo,
and saw all levels of ability
demonstrated in • individual
swimming strokes.
The water show was planned
and presented by pool super-
visors Anne Troutbeck. and
,Hugh Huff, who were respon-
sible for the extensive swim-
ming program carried on dur-
ing the summer months.

ed the tender of Dominion
Road Machinery, of Goderich,
for a new grader. The accept-
ance is subject to the approval

Wins Trophy in
Bowling Event
Jbhn E. Patterson, with 5
wins plus 50, was top bowler
and winner of the- club trophy
in a six -game series that con-
cluded Thursday.
Runners-up were Bill Brown,
5 wins plus 30, and Jack Muir,
3 wins plus 18. •

MEMBERS of the Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary prepared for a new season of activity on
Tuesday with a pot -luck supper at the Lions Park pavilion. The auxiliary discussed plans
for events to raise additional funds for the new Community Hospital. An initial payment .•

Initial Payment of $6,000
-The Seaforth Hospital Auxil-
iary approved a payment Of
$6,000.00 to the Hospital Build-
ing Fund -at the first meeting
,of the season at the Lions Park
picnic pavilion Tuesday eve-
ning. The payment represents
the first instalment of the gift
of $10,000.00 which the auxil-
iary pledged. .
The meeting featured a pot-
luck .supper, with 26 menibers
and guests present.
Following the supper, Mrs.
F. R. Cosford. presided for the
business meeting. Annual re-
ports were , given by conveners
of the various committees, and
the treasurer's report showed
a successful year. Mrs. H.
Whyte reported on projects for
the past year.
