a municipal drain. Council auth-
orized the firm of Archibald,
Grey & McKay to carry Out the
necessary investigation and to
report.
. Possibility that work on the
Brncefield cemetery would qual-
ify as a Centennial project was
raised by ReeVe Thompson. He
referred to the • way in which
cemeteries no longer in use in
other municipalities had been
tidied up and suggested -that
consideration be given to a simi-
lar program at the lArncefield
cemetery. He said that he had
had a quotation for a central
stone, which would be sur-
rounded by stones now in the
cemetery, and that the cost of
this would be perhaps $1,000.
Clerk McIntosh was asked to
contact the Centennial liason
representative to determine
what might be permitted prior
to a formal application being
prepared.
There have been, no further
complaints regarding dogs in
Egmondville following action
which council took some weeks
ago. Possibility that a review
of the existing dog tax was in
order was raised aS council con-
sidered the effect which an in-
creased dog tax had had in
controlling dogs in- Seaforth.
While there was concern that
Unrestricted building could cre-
ate difficulty in the township,
particularly in Egmondville and
Harpurhey, councillors hesitat-
ed to associate the township in
a proposed planning area. Dis-
cussion revealed that sugges-
tions that control could be ex-
ercised through the • township,
building bylaws were not re;
alistic. The bylaw does ensure
the safety and method of con-
struction of a building, but can-
not control the -use-to .which it
is put. ) Following discussion,
the. Clerk was instructed to ad-
vise Seaforth that the township
would not take part 'in the pro-
posal.
The suggestion retarding the
planning area arose following a
joint meeting of Seaforth, Tuck-
ersmith and McKillop councils,
which had been Held previously.
