Group Meets
The Walton Unit of Duff's
United Church held their Aug-
ust meeting at the home o
Mrs. Allan McCall Wednesday
evening, with an attendance of
19. "The Church in This Day"
was the theme chosen by Mrs.
Leonard Leeming for the wor-
ship period.
• Hymn 262, "The' Morning
Light is Breaking," was sung as
the opening hymn, with Mrs.
Herb Traviss at the piano.
Prayer was offered by Mrs.
Leeming, after which the scrip-
ture lesson was read by Mrs.
Howard Hackwell from Romans
8:14-39. Mrs. Leeming followed
with Meditation, ending with a
poem, •"The Little Cares", and
prayer.
The topic, °"The Use of Our
Talents For God and Our Conn -
try," was given by Mrs. Jack
McEwing. Hymn 386. "0 Lord
of Life and. Love and Power."
closed the worship portion of
the meeting.
Mrs. Allan McCall, the presi-
dent, was in charge of the busi-
ness period. Mrs. Jim, Clark
read the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting and called the
roll, which was answered with
a verse containing • the word
`Truth'- Th' nk-you notes were
also read.
Miss Gail Traviss and her
mother, Mrs. Herb Traviss, sang
a duet entitled, "God Will Take
Care of You," arid a piano solo
was played by Miss Beverley
WICCalI. The offering w:as re
ceived by Mrs. Walter Bewley
and dedicated by Mrs. McCall.
The financial report was pre-
sented by Mrs. Walter Bewley.
Hynin 263, "My Faith Looks Up
To Thee." was sung as the clos-
ing hymn, and the Lord's Pray-
er wa repeated • in unison.
Lunch was . served by the hos-
tesses, Mrs. Gordon Murray and
llrs. Roy Bennett,
Mr. Colin Fingland, of Wing -
ham, has been in charge of the
church services in Duff's Unit-
ed Church for the past three
Sundays. The service and Sun-
day School will be withdrawn
next Sunday morning, Aug. 23.
The following Sunday, Rev. A.
Higginbotham will be in charge.
Miss Barbara Nicholson, of
Monkton, visited last week
with her aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Ryan.
Mrs. Vera Rogers and Miss
Dorothy Bolton, of Rochester,
New York, visited with the
Humphries families.
Mrs'. Jack McLlwain and
Mark, of Seaforth, spent a few
days with her mother, Mrs. Ed-
na Hackwell.
Jerry and Randy Koebel, of
Kitchener, visited with their
aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs.
Irvin Shannon.
Mrs. Nath Bi-agg. of Pouch
Cove. Newfoundland. is visiting
with her daughter and son-in-
laf. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Badley,
and other friends in the vicin-
ity.
Little Sandra Smith, of Lon-
don, is at present visiting with
her grandmother, Mrs. Edna
Hackwell
Mrs, Fred Ennis is spending
this, week with her daughter,
Mrs. Mary Dressel, Toronto. •

don, spent 'the' weekend with

Hackwell.

en Community Hall Saturday
evening in honor of Mr. •and
Mrs. Warren Sholdice.
Mrs. Mary Gardiner and Miss
Vera Gardiner, of Toronto, were
weekend guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Wey
and visited with other relatives
and friends in the vicinity.
John . Thamer, of Kitchener,
spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs, William
Thamer.
Mrs. Maud Leeming and Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Clark visited with
Isaac McGavin at Huronview,
Clinton, one day last week.

The road paving job between
Seaforth and Walton was com-
pleted on Tuesday.

NEW ADVANCE IN MILK ANALYSIS -Agriculture Minister Hon.. William A. Stewart
and Deputy Minister Everett Biggs are shown witnessing a demonstration of "Irma", an Infra
Red Milk Analyzer which is expected to revolutionize milk analysis in the future. The
equipment, shown in operation at the Ontario Agricultural College, analyzes milk for fat,
protein, lactose and solids -not -fat. A high degree of accuracy is obtained by the use of the
new method. With the Minister and Mr. Biggs are Professor D. A. Biggs, of the Dairy
Science Department, Guelph, who is on the left, and. Dr. D. N. Huntley, head of the Agri-
cultural Research Institute of Ontario.

Kitchener - Waterloo Hospital,
visited her parents, Mr. and

days this week.
We are sorry to report Susan
Hammon, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Hammon, is a patient
in Scott Memorial ,Hospital, Sea -
forth.
Mr. and Mrs. Fergus Lannin
were in Peterborough for a
couple of days. Mr. Lannin was
judge of the Shorthorn, cattle
for their fair on Friday.
We are sorry to report the
infant son of Mr'. and Mrs. Bob
Engel's was taken to London
hospital on Friday.
Mrs. Rena Stacey had the
misfortune to - fall and break
her wrist one day last week.
Mrs. Mary Malcolm received
word on • Saturday that her
cousin, Mr. Ross Murdie, Sea -
forth, was taken to. Scott Mem-
orial Hospital on Friday.
Mrs. Dorothy Robinson and
sister, Mrs. Lionel Strathdee,
Mitchell, spent Sunday with
their mother, Mrs. Rena Stacey,
and Mowet.
Messrs. Carl, Alan and Jim
Roney and cousin, Ted Cud -

The 'Sunday morning service
in Zion Church was in charge
of the UCW of Zion, Roys and
Staffa. Mrs. Norman Dow led
the worship service, with Mrs.
Lawrence Barker and Mrs. Dal-
ton Malcolm assisting. The
guest speaker was Mrs. Ball,
of St. Marys, who gave a most
worthwhile address, with .,the
text, "For the people had a
mind to work." An anthem was
sung by the choir under the
direction ,of the organist, Mrs.
Charles Roney. '
