Canadian social .worker Doris Clark invites you to write
her about your problem. She answers letters . of general
interest in this column but can't undertake personal replies. -
DEAR DORIS-I have three
children, seven, five and two.
When we take them to,,see their
grandparents, their twcousins
are always there, one seven and
the other nine.
What gets me is they are
such good leaders! They are
always showing my two how to
do things, and always have good
ideas. The older one is pretty
bossy.
How can I bring mine up to
be leaders? Or are there born
leaders?
PERPLEXED
DEAR PERPLEXED -Ie ad e rs
are made, not born. Love, af-
fection, encouragement, are the
keywords. Not so much "Don't"
as "Do try. .I'll help you!'
There's absolutely no substitute
for companionship and confi-
dence. Challenge them beyond
their years and it's ten to one
they'll come through.
DEAR DORIS - I' had long
hair - which hung on my shoul-
ders. All my friends just ador-
ed my hair. 3t was blonde.
Now here's my problem: I got
it cut off quite short and my
boy friend said if I got my
hair cut he'd leave me.
I've ;been going with him for
two years and if I lose him I
don't know wh-at I'll do. Is
there• something that will make
your hair grow quicker? I saw
an ad that guaranteed your
hair to grow in seven days.
Now I can't seem to find- it.)

out preliminary engineering.
The OWRC had indicated it
wished to carry out a further
review of the system general-
ly when councl representatives
met commission members in
June.
Mayor Angus. MacLean point-
ed out hospital construction was
under way and early considera-
tion was necessary.
Councillor J. 0. Turnbull
suggested it was not too early
to begin a survey of sewer
facilities and to study plans for
servicing other areas of the
town. In this way, priorities
could be established and the
jab completed piece . by piece.

Craven and Mrs. Leavens co-

DEAR TERRIFIED -Sort of
a reversal of the. Samson-Dliah
theme? If you've lost your pow-
er over him with your' hair, he
didn't love you anyway! Let
him go. (P..S. Magic hair -grow-
ers are non-existent.)
DEAR DORIS-1VIy brother is
getting, married in the fall: His
fianceQ7asked me to be one of
her bridesmaids. We are four
married women, three in their
twenties and I am. 38. I thought
that bridesmaids were usually
single girls and the matron of
honor a married woman.
It means my husband will be
alone at the wedding ceremony.
Would it be rude to refuse? I
think .cit should be a younger
woman. 'If I refuse, what could
I tell her?
TOO OLD
DEAR TOO OLD -Don't re
fuse. She wants you in her wed-
ding party and, you should ac-
cept the compliment. Bridal at-
tendants are not always young,
and unmarried. I can't imagine
your husband minding when his
wife shares the honors.
