Wins
St. Columban Greenshirts
continued their winning ways
on Wednesday evening when
they defeated Goderich Conk-
lin Lumber 4-1 at St. Colum -
ban.
In the first half, Harry Ryan
scored at the 15 -minute mark,
followed by Gerald Ryan, and
then Arthur Murray scored on
a penalty kick, to make the
score read 3-0 for St. Columban
at half time.
Goderich scored a goal by
Alf Dykstra in the second half;
however, Harry Ryan ended the
scoring for St. Columban at the
25 -minute mark.
While the attendance was
better than usual, it still leaves
plenty to be desired.

Seaforth 8, Clinton 5 -
Seafprth took a close $-v win
against Clinton on Friday night.
The- locals opened with two
runs' in the first and never
looked back. Petrie and Snaith
walked and Whitelaw added a
triple for the runs. Seaforth
added one more in the second
on hits `by Dale and Vint.
Neither team scored in the
third, but Seaforth exploded for
four runs in the fourth on hits
by Smith, Petrie and Hagan.
Roweliffe and Vint walked and
Whitelaw was bit by a pitched
ball. Neither team scored in
the fifth. Clinton added one
run in the sixth on a }tome -run
by Livermore. Neither team
scored in the 7th. In the 8th,
Seaforth added their final run
on hits by Rowcliffe and Petrie.
Clinton added four runs in
their half of the eighth,' to
round out the scoring.

Clinton opened with three runs
in the first, but Seaforth came
back with two in their half of
the first on a walk by Hagan,
followed by a home -run by
Petrie. Clinton was held score-
less in the second and Seaforth
added one on a home -run by
Dale.
In the third, Clinton added
two more, but Seaforth came
back with three on a double
by Petrie, a home -run by Beaut-
tenmiller and singles by Hen-
derson, Dale and McKellar.
In the fourth, Clinton added
two runs and held Seaforth
scoreless. In the fifth, Clinton
again showed power as they
added three more to Seaforth's
nil. In the sixth, however, Clin-
ton was held scoreless and Sea -
forth added one run on a walk
by Hagan, followed by a triple
by Petrie.
Legion, Auxiliary
Holds Annual . Picnic
The annual picnic of Hensdll
Legion and Auxiliary and their
families was held at Riverview
Park, Exeter, Sunday. Mrs.
Garnet Allan directed a full
line of sports, including races,
shoe and peanut' scrambles,
kick the slipper, wheelbarrow
aace and other events: A pic-
nic supper was served.

FUNERAL
JOHN DUNCAN REID
John Duncan Reid, aged 84,
of 8 Bruse St., London, passed
away suddenly on Monday in
London. Born near Brucefield,
he had lived for the past 42
years in. London.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Nellie McArthur,
and one daughter, Mrs. David
(Mavis) Hall, Scarborough, and
one son, Ray, of Port Hardy.
B.C.; also one sister, Miss Min-
nie Reid, London:
-Mr. Reid was a member of
IOOF Lodge No. 223, Hensall,
who will conduct a service at
the funeral home on, Thursday

WI Plans Fall Rally
Mrs. Clarence Reid was hos-
tess at her home Monday eve-
ning for the executive meeting
of Hensall Women's Institute,
when plans for the fall rally,
to be held in Hensall in Octo-
ber, were discussed and pro-
grams for the year planned.
Conveners appointed for the
resolution committee were Mrs.
Carl Payne, Miss M. Ellis, Mrs.
W. B. Cross and Mrs. V. M.
Pyette. President Mrs. Beverly
Beaton presided for the meet-
ing, and secretary Mrs. Wilbert
Dialing took the minutes. Lunch
was served by the hostess, as-
sisted by Mrs. Garfield Brode-
richk and Mrs. R. A. Orr.
The Lavender Reunion was
In the seventh, bath teams
added three runs--Seaferth's on
singles by Westntan, Hagan and
Dale, and home -runs by Dins-
more and Vint. In the eighth,
both teams exploded, as . Clut-
ton added nine runs and Sea -
forth 10. Seaforth's runs were
acquired by Westman, Hagan, a
single; Petrie, Beuttenmiller,
Henderson, Dale, Dinsmore, Mc-
Kellar and Vint. "
In the ninth ,Seaforth dis-
played good fielding, holding
Clinton scoreless and added
two runs , in their half of the
ninth on hits by Petrie and Bob
Beuttenmiller's second home -
run of the night. In the tenth
inning Clinton added five more
runs, then held Seaforth to
three, to win the ball game. In
the tenth, hits by Hagan, Pe-
trie, Beuttenmiller and Vint
accounted for the runs.
