St. Columban Green Shirts
now hold first place in the Hur-
on Football Association League.
On Wednesday of last .week the
team defeated Centralia Flyers
5-0 at St. Columban.
At the end of the first half,
St. Columban led 3.0, on goals
by Jim 1Vlelady, Gerald Ryan
and Frank Malone. In the sec-
ond half, Jim' Melady and Frank
Malone scored, to make the
final 5-0.

Seaforth, now playing with
all local boys, dropped two
close games this week, both to
RCAF Clinton. Seaforth drop-
ped the Mitchell players for
hometown boys in the hope that
more people will take an in-
terest in the games.
In 'Clinton Sunday afternoon,
Clinton RCAF defeated Sea -
forth by 11-7. Seaforth started
strong, scoring 6 runs on hits
by Vint, Petrie, Beauttenmiller,
Henderson, Hagan and Dale.
However,, Clinton scored- three
in their half of the first, and
after one inning Seaforth led
6-3. Neither team scored in the
second, and in the third Sea -
forth added their other run on
a walk by Hagan, followed by
hits from Dale and Reith, Clin-
ton added three in their half.
Then after two scoreless in-
nings, Clinton took .the ,lead in
the sixth, scoring three „more
runs, and added two more in
the seventh, to round out the
scoring.
Vint went" all the way for
Seaforth with Beauttenmiller
catching. For Clinton RCAF, Le-
land started, with Cheese re-
lieving in the 8th. .Mulaney did
the catching.
Clinton 9, Seaforth 2
On- Monday night in Clinton,
Clinton RCAF again took Sea -
forth, this time by a.. 9-2 score.

runs in the first, when Seaforth
failed to retaliate. ' Clinton
RCAF added another in the
second, then were held score-
less until the sixth, when they
scored five runs, to lead .0-0.
Seaforth came back in the 7th
with two • runs, but failed to
score any more. Clinton added
their final - run in the 8th.
Vint again went the distance
for Seaforth, with Whitelaw
catching. Cheese started for
Clinton, with Leland relieving
him in the 8th.

Mr. and Mrs, John >Uortoa, of
Kindersley, Sask., who have
been here on vacation since ear-
ly June, were honored at a
gatbtering. of Horton -Wren rela-
tives, which took place at the
'home of Mr. and Mrs. John SoY-
dan, Hay Twp., recently. Mr.
Horton was married in 1918 -to
Sadie Walker,, of the, Clinton
district.' In 1919 they went West
and settled near Kindersley,
Sask. He is the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Horton,
and was born in Usborne Twp.
Mrs. R. J. Paterson, Hensall, is
a sister.
In an address presented by
Mrs. John Soldan, Mr. and Mrs.
Horton were reminded of the
contribution they have made to.

passed away on Sunday. Mrs,
Knechtel had been ill since Eas-
ter. She is survived by one
daughter and one 'son: Inter-
