Band Entertains r
Sunday School Has Picnic
The Sunday School and con-
gregational picnic of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church was held on
Sunday afternoon on the ,sehool
grounds. During the afternoon
the Brodhagen Band played and
races and fish pond were en-
joyed. A refreshment booth was
on the grounds. A picnic buffet
supper was held in the church
basement, after which devotion-
al service was held upstairs,

attended the Lions Internation-
al Convention in Toronto last

ing this week with her cousin,

with Marie Meyer and other
relatives last week.
Miss Sharon Prueter, Reg.N.,
who has been nursing in the
hospital at Sioux Lookout, is
visiting at the home of her par-,
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Prue -
ter, before leaving to work in a
hospital at Los Angeles, :• Cali-
fornia. Mrs. Prueter and daugh-
ter, Joanne, had visited Sharon
at Sioux Lookout recently.

visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Muegge on Sunday.

a barbecue party at her home
on Tuesday evening with a
number df girls attending, as a
farewell to Misses Patricia and
Gaye Andrews, who have resid-
ed here the past year and are
now moving to Texas. They
were presented with farewell
gifts.

daying with her aunt, Mrs.. Wm.

Diegel spent Sunday with Rev.

cottage at Sauble Beach.

FUNERAL.
EDWARD BOYCE
Edward Boyce, of RR 5, Sea -
forth, died in Scott Memorial
Hospital on July 2, after a week
in hospital as the result of a
stroke. He was widely known
in the community and all
who knew him mourn his loss.
He was in the gravel and truck-
ing business for the past 16
years. Prior to making his home
here, he` resided in Galt, where
he was employed at the Shir-
ley, Dietrich & Aiden plant.
Heleaves to mourn, his wife,
the former Mary Munn; one
(daughter, Mrs. William (Joan).
Chesney, Seaforth; his mother,
Mrs. Lillian Boyce, Mitchell,
and three sisters: Velma, Mrs.
Coghlin, of Atwood; Mrs. Wm.
(Verna) Van Loon, Windsor, and
Mrs. C. H. (Gladys)°Meier, .Strat-
ford.
The funeral service was con-
ducted on Sunday, July 5, at
the R. S. Box Funeral Home,
High St., Seaforth, with Rev. J.
C. Britton the officiating clergy.
Interment was. in Maitlandbank

TUCKERSMITH BRIDE OF SATURDAY'
A bridal shower in hon-
or of Miss Nancy Elizabeth
Pepper' was held recently at the
home of Mrs. Bruce McLean,
assisted by Mrs. Charles Geddes
and Mrs. Ivan Carter. Guests
were entertained with a few
contests. Small prizes were pre-
sented to the winners. The ad-
dress was read to the bride-to-
be and she was presented with
very useful kitchen gadgets and
some articles for her pantry
shelf. A lovely lunch was
served.
A shower waslso held in
Egmondville Church basement
on July 1st by the ladies of
the congregation. Mrs. Elmer
Stephenson, Mrs. Norman Mac-
Lean and Mrs. Emmerson Durst
were in charge. Nancy receiv-
ed many lovely and useful gifts.
The address was read by Miss
Marjorie Papple.
On Saturday, July 4th, a
trousseau tea was held in hon-
or of the bride by the bride's
mother, Mrs. Alex Pepper, at
the home of her brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eric
McIntosh. Receiving the guests
were Nancy, Mrs. Pepper and
Mrs. Millson, mother of the
groom.
Pouring tea in the afternoon
were Mrs. Charlotte Lindsay,
aunt of the' groom, and Mrs.
Dunn, aunt of the bride. In
the evening, Mrs. Gordon Rich-
ardson: and Mrs. Wilmer Me-
Clinchey, Varna, aunts of " the
bride, were in charge. In charge
of the guest book were Miss.
Marlene Coleman, Walkerton,
and Miss IVlary Anne McLean
Mrs. Nelson Pepper and Bar-
bara assisted with the guests.
Mrs. Wilber Keyes, Mrs. Wilfred
Coleman, Mrs. John Hoggarth
and Mrs, Eric McIntosh helped
in the kitchen, and in the eve-
ning Mrs. Bruce Mclean, Mrs.
George McCartney, Mrs. Merton
The motorist stood at the sub-
urban front door, his hat in
his hand. "I'm very sorry to
tell you, Madam," he said to
the woman who answered the
door, "but I've just run over
your cat. I would like to re-
place him."
"Well, don't just stand there,"
snapped the housewife, ,"there's
a mouse in my kitchen. Get
busy!"
