Walton Unit Meets
Mrs. Emerson Mitchell was
hostess at her home to the Wal-
ton Unit of Duff's United
Church Wednesday evening.
Mrs. John McEwing opened the
devotional period with the Call
to Worship and a poen entit-
led, "God'')` Good Samaritans."
"Come, Let' Us Sing of a Won-
derful Love" was sung with
Mrs. Harvey Brown at the
piano. The Scripture was read
by Mrs. Torrance Dundas, choos-
ing the two most important
commandments, the first and
second, taking different ways
of translating the command-
ments, but still having the same
meaning. It was taken from
Mark 12:28-34, Exodus 20:1-6,
and the children's version.
Mrs. McEwing commented on
the commandments and brought
out the different phases of love
to God and to your neighbor,
ending with a poem, "Let Us
Work Together." Prayer was
offered by Mrs. Dundas, follow-
ed with the hymn, "Blest Be
the Tie That Binds," and the
meeting closed with prayer.
Mrs. Allan McCall took over
the business part of the meet-
ing. Mrs. Ronald Bennett gave.
the topic on "The Home," writ-
ten by Quinton J. Everest,
"Your World's Hour Pastor."
An interesting illustration
comes from, the song, "Home,
Sweet Home," written 'by John
Howard Payne. At the age of
14, John H. Payne went to
work to' earn his own living,
and went on the stage. Final-
ly when he. died, Americ,l sent
to Africa for his body and bur-
ied it in Washington, D.C.
First: The fact that the home
has been ordained by God; then
He made the race, male and
female. In the New Testament,
Jesus publicly sanctioned mar-
riage. In considering God's or-
der we naturally think of chil-
dren. Withput children the
home wouldi e. -empty and. in-
complete. God can turn sad-
ness into gladness, loss into
gain, and brokeness into whole-
ness.
Mrs. James Clark ' gave ' the
secretary's report, and the roll
call was answered by giving a
commandment. A letter was
read from Mrs. Walton Tong,
Hong Kong, thanking them for
the bale "that had been sent.

al School was discussed:

E. Mitchell.
