Mrs. Waiter Somerville was
hoetess Saturday at a trousseau
tea in honor of her daughter,
Sharon, whose marriage takes
place on June 6th. The bride -
to -he received the guests, as-
sisted by her mother and the
groom's mother, Mrs. Ellis Jef-
frey, of Goderich. Mrs. William
R. Somerville, grandmother of
the bride, poured tea from a
lace -covered table, centred with
pansies and pink candles. The
dining and living rooms were
decorated in pink and white
motif. •

Tile Dublin Women's Insti-
tute met at the home of Mrs.
Joseph 'Valengoed on Wednes-
day. The incoming president,
Mrs. John Burchill, presided. A
report of the district' annual
held in St. Marys was given by
Mrs. Herb Britton. Mrs. Chas.
Friend gave a resume of the
officers' conference held at
Guelph.
The program was on Agricul-
ture. Mrs. Rube Aikens gave a
reading, "The Most Important
Industry," stressing that agri-
culture, the allied „industries
such as those making farm
machinery, and others prepar-
ing feed for stock, was still one.

Attention was drawn to the
July meeting, which will take
the form of a theatre party to
see "The Yeoman of the Guard"

60th anniversary.
Hold Farewell Party
Last Thursday evening, close
neighbors gathered at the home
of Mrs. Annie Steinbach and
Harry to extend farewell greet-
ings prior to their moving from
the community. The neighbors
had received donations from
relatives and friends and pre-
sented Mrs. Steinbach ' with a
sweater, p u r s e, housecoat,
gloves and cash. Harry receiv-
ed a sweater, jacket, wallet and
cash, The.evening was spent
in playing progressive euchre.
Their farm has been sold to

Hibbert's Little Lassies, Staf-
fa East, held their second meet-
ing on May 23 at 1:30 • p.m. at
the home of their leader, Mrs.
A. Daynard. The meeting was
opened with the 4-H, Pledge,
followed by the roll call,Which
was answered by "one, vege-
table in my garden which . re-
quires thinning.” Min of
the last meeting were read Ind
approved, follo"tved by the busi-
ness.
The subject matter of the
meeting consisted of a demon-
stration of transplanting' by the
assistant leader, Mrs, G. Vivian.
Reasons were given : when,
where and why it should be
done. Successive planting was
explained by Mrs, Daynard, ex-
plaining that ,it meant the time
between each planting and the
reason for planting at differ-
ent intervals. A variety of com-
mon 'Weeds were. examined and,
identified by the 'members. Mrs.
Vivian explained the food values
of vegetables, referring to Can-
ada's Food Guide For Health.
Heather Daynard demonstrated
the proper method of thinning
and explained the reason why.
Mrs. Daynard :told how to cook
garden greens properly. The
next meeting is to be held at
the 'home of Mrs. Daynard on
June 27, at 1:30 p.m.

Nurse Graduates
Rosanna Margaret Worden,
daughter of Alvin : Worden,
Staffa, and the late Mrs. Wor-
den, graduated from the Strat-
ford General Hospital on Satur-
day, May 30. Graduation exer-
cises were held in the Shake-
spearian Festival Theatre. Ros-
anna received the Loving Cup
award, presented for school
spirit and student leadership.
Rosanna attended public school
at SS "No. 3, Hibbert, and Mit-
chell District high School.

ty Roe gave the commentary on
the exhibit that was set up on
"a color scheme for :a ward -

taxded School at Wingham, also
donation to help • pay for the
district Tweedsmuir history
book. It was decided to make a
donation to just one organiza-
tion this year outside of Insti-
tute affairs, as too many organ-
izations are seeking „donations.
Mrs. Jim Nolan gave her re
port from the East Huron dis-
trict annual meeting held in
Ethel. It was decided to have a
bus trip early in July; suggest-
ed places were Listowel apd
Wingham.
