Anna Lesniewska is
Goderich Co-op Gallery's
guest artist for October
How fortunate we are to
live in this country which
welcomes newcomers from
all over the world.
Our October guest artist is
among these "new"
Canadians, and when you
see the beautiful art she has
been creating, you will agree,
we are fortunate she has
decided to live here.
Anna Lesniewska moved
to Canada from Poland just
six years ago. While she
has learned how to live in
brand new surroundings,
with a new language, she
also has embarked on a
very different vocational
path. Following her gradu-
ation from University in
Poland, with a major in
Banking and Finance,
Anna then achieved a
Diploma in Textiles. At the
same time, her interest in
photography was deepen-
ing, and she travelled
extensively taking photo-
graphs of beautiful natural
landscapes. While travel-
ling, Anna was able to visit
many famous European
Art Galleries, where she
developed an interest in
impressionist, and post
modernist art, and more
recently with the natural
beauty she has found in
her new home in Canada.
Anna is now painting her
own wonderful pieces exe-
cuted in acrylics on Ter-
raskin, a paper made from
stone, and acrylic inks on
Yupo which is a "paper"
made from plastic. Unlike
traditional papers, neither
of these surfaces allow the
medium, in Anna's case
acrylic paints and inks, to
actually penetrate the
fibres of the paper, and
because of this feature,
there is less "control" of the
direction the paint takes;
these are not easy surfaces
on which to work, but the
colour intensity produced
is stunning. Anna has more
than mastered the
her as ,tech-
ni uespieces are
q
reflective of her talent in
achieving clear, bright col-
ours, and compositions
which visitors will find
delightful. Anna has been
YP g
diligently pursuing her art
g
career in Canada, entering
exhibitions in London, as
well as Paint Ontario, as
she pursues her dream of
becoming a full time artist.

display her latest work.
Gallery visitors will soon
realize that we also have
some new members, Darren
Woluschuk, who paints
mysterious surrealist pieces,

beautiful Ontario land-

regular member artists, and
former Guest Artist, Judy
Brady's beautiful works in
felted wool and silk, are still
available as she continues
to exhibit as a Consignment
Artist.
A group of our member
artists are busy preparing a
series of presentations to
answer the question, "What
is Modern, or Contempo-
rary Art?" Their intent is to
shine a light on the forces
driving the world of 'Mod-
ern Art' to help us to under-
stand and appreciate how
art always has, and will
continue, to reflect the
world we live in. We hope
you will join us to explore
this fascinating subject.
