ing, about 120 people have
registered so far, with
registration open until
Sept. 18.

bito said two more spon-
sors have recently signed
on with the event, and the
promotional video by Brad
Fenton gives a good sense
of the beauty and challenge
runners and walkers can
experience during the
event.
"It's an amazing scenic
route that helps runners
stay focused," Zambito
said.
The event is currently
looking for volunteers to
assist with the event and is
organizers are working hard
to spread the word and make
the first event as successful
as possible.
Zambito said people
have expressed special
interested in the various
bridges that are wound into
the route, as well as the
lakeshore areas.
The map and directions
through the route have also
been made available on the
website.

Bruce Power opens Centre for Project Excellence
as it prepares for major component replacement
Bruce Power has taken an
important step toward its
refurbishment preparations
by opening the Centre for
Project Excellence on the
Bruce site.
The centre will be dedicated
to the company's extensive
planning activities to prepare
for the successful execution of
the first refurbishment, which
begins in 2020.
"A key priority at Bruce
Power is project excellence
and that's why preparing for
the successful execution of
our refurbishment program,
which will begin in 2020, is
an important focus for our
organization," said Mike
Rencheck, Bruce Power's
president and CEO. "The
opening of the Centre for
Project Excellence is another
important milestone as we
prepare for the successful
execution of future refur-
bishments that are impor-
tant to our site, surrounding
communities and the Prov-
ince of Ontario."

Hydro One offers a lesson in energy efficiency for students
Students starting univer-
sity and college may have
graduated high school, but
they may not have received
an education in energy
efficiency.
Hydro One has a quick, 10
step lesson to help students
keep electricity costs down for
the upcoming school year.
• When researching an
apartment or house to rent,
find out if your electricity bill
is included in your rent or if
you are billed separately.
Study the Time -of -Use
schedule and use high elec-
tricity -use appliances like
the dishwasher, space
heater, stove and dryer dur-
ing off-peak hours as much
as possible.
Regularly review your
electricity usage by setting
up an online account at
www.HydroOne.com/MyAc-
count to track your electric-
ity consumption by the hour.
• When you leave for class,
make sure all unnecessary
lights are turned off.
• After pulling an all-night
cram session, turn off your
computer and laptop.
• Remember science
class? Electricity is drawn
from household gadgets,
electronic devices and appli-
ances even when not in use.
Plug appliances and equip-
ment that are not used con-
stantly into a power bar with
an off switch for an easy and
quick way to turn them all
off.
• Get an honorary conser-
vation degree by trapping
the heat in your home in the
winter.
• Keep doors and windows
closed, hang thick -lined
curtains to keep the heat in
and install weather stripping
around the doors to get an
A+.
• Get additional credit for
limiting your use of air con-
ditioning. Keep your home
or apartment cool in the
summer by opening win-
dows at night when it is
cooler and closing blinds
during the day to keep the
heat out. Consider using a
fan to cool down, especially
during peak hours. Air
conditioning can use up a lot
of electricity.
• Study your taps to ensure
that you have no leaks.
Ensure that you have your
landlord fix any leaking taps
to avoid sending extra
money down the drain.
• Experiment by washing
your clothes in cold water,
during off-peak hours to
keep costs low. Clothes dry-
ers also consume a lot of
electricity so hang dry your
laundry to save on your bill.
