A 6-4 win against top team Elora gives the Lancers the ideal start to their season. Goals by Joel Aldron, Jamie Miller, and captain Chase Chapman led the way for the Boys in Red. Goaltender Tyler Kuehl stayed strong in net, making 45 saves in the win- ning effort. Coach Steve Simpson was pleased with his team's performance. "We did the things we needed to do, played smart, did the little things we needed to do to win. The offence and defence were there we needed it. We played as close to a perfect game as we've had in awhile:' The Lancers now look forward to atough weekend this coming Friday and Saturday, as they the Mapleton -Minto 81's and the Clinton Radars respectively. Both teams were in the AA final last season, with Clin- ton coming out on top. Lancers Fall Short Against 81's Lucknow played a hard tough game against the defending North Division champs Friday night, falling to Maple- ton 4-3. Goals from Chad Simpson and Evan Ducharme helped erase a three goal def- icit in the middle frame. An early Maple- ton power play goal in third period, however, proved to be just enough to keep the Lancers out of reach. Goal - tender Tyler Kuehl kept the Boys in Red in it making 39 saves in the losing effort. Coach Cal McDonagh still saw the glass half full after the game. "It's not easy coming on the road against teams like this, but we held our own for most of the game, we have the chance to really surprise some teams in the league. Lancers Stun Defending Champs in Shootout hi an arena that was arguably a pro -Clin- ton crowd, our boys put together a game that this town had not seen in some lime. After going down two goals early in the game, the Boys in Red came back. A goal from Evan Ducharme in the first and sec- ond period sent the game all knotted up heading into final period. The Radars were able to get a power play goal midway through the third, but the Lancers came right back with a power play goal by Jamie Miller just a couple minutes later. An onslaught of shots from Clinton were to no avail as Lancer goaltender kept the door shut on his way to a 51 save perfor- mance, including all three saves in the shootout. Tanner Simpson was able to sneak a shot five -hole to help clinch the shootout victory for Lucknow. Lancer Coach Cal McDonagh couldn't have been prouder of his team following the big win. "We played a full 60 minute game tonight and then some, and it definitely paid off. We had everything a team needs to win a hockey game. Tight defence, timely goal scoring, and good goaltending. If we haven't opened the eyes of the rest of the league, we sure have now.' Coach Steve Simpson has a lot of opti- mism for his team. "We had a real good second half last year. We competed against top teams like Sau- geen Shores and Mapleton, and even beat- ing Ripley and Tillsonburg." Simpson also liked the mix of the young newcomers and the returning veterans. "We had quite a bit of skill last year and the new boys coming in will definitely com- pliment our team:' A couple omissions from the opening night roster will be Brett Binning and cap- tain Ean Moffat, both still waiting to be cleared after ACL surgery. Rick Andrew is questionable after breaking his leg early in the summer. QN I[upon. numb 1 IS•®IIb Tem ut The Flu vaccine for the patients of Dr. Antoniadis, Dr. Gear, Dr. B. Marshall, Dr. S.
