of dance and more

The second meeting of the
Wawanosh Line Dancing Club
was held on Oct. 7, 2016 at the
Auburn Hall.
President Lorette Higgins
opened the meeting with the 4-H
pledge and Roll Call.
Next members judged proper
line dancing attire, which cotton
is the best material, and learned
about adding creativity to a
dance. We also picked our club
name of Boot Scooten' Crew.
Our warm up dance was the
Mexican Hat Dance taught by
Leader Mary Ellen Foran, fol-
lowed by the Chicken Dance.
Leader, Meagan Higgins,
taught the club Cotton Eyed Joe,
followed by reviewing the Elec-
tric Slide and Mamma Maria.
Meeting 3 followed Meeting 2
and Loretta asked the Roll Call of
"what is your favourite step?"
Many members said they
enjoyed learning the grapevine.
Next we learned about proper
dance etiquette. Leader, Eileen
George, taught the club the
Hokey Pokey for warm up, fol-
lowed by Meagan teaching the
club 'Boot Scoot Boogie.' Loretta
ended the meeting with the
motto.
The fourth meeting of the
Wawanosh Boot Scooten' Crew
began on October 11th, 2016 in
Wingham. President Loretta Hig-
gins started the meeting with the
4-H pledge and Roll Call of "how
is your dance choreography
coming?". Many members had
their dances picked out and
decided which meeting to pre-
sent their dance. We warmed up
with the Mexican Hat Dance,
Maisy Jefferson taught the club
the Irish Dance, and Leader,
Eileen George, taught the club
the Bunny Hop. Maisy also
taught the club a new line dance,
Wagon Wheel, and we all
reviewed Boot Scoot Boogie,
Mamma Maria, and the Chicken
Dance for fun! Our next meeting
was Oct. 14, and members were
asked to bring a friend. Achieve-
ment will be at the Auburn
Pumpkin Party on October 29.

LUCKNOW NEWS
Lucknow residents keeping busy as days get shorter
Ruth Dobrensky
Well it looks like my hopes
are coming truer every day, as
of this writing, the Jays were
heading to Cleveland to play
for the ALCS.
By the time this paper comes
out, we may know if the Jays are
heading to the World Series or
not. I'm still living in hope, only
time will tell.
Yesterday the Lucknow UCW
hosted a hot turkey supper at
the community centre, it was,
as usual, well attended and
enjoyed by all.
Happy 50th wedding anni-
versary to Lucy and Allan Miller
who celebrated in a big way this
past weekend with family,
friends and neighbours. Con-
gratulations to you both.
It looks as though the Millers
are to be congratulated on their
stellar year for selling ice cream
cones as well. I can't begin to
imagine what 23,000 litres of
ice cream looks like.
Those of us from Lucknow
who attend the Seekers Group
for Bible study at St. Paul's -
Trinity in Wingham, ran into
Jocelyn and Ken DeBoer who
were out biking with friends.
Ken said he's in an interim
ministry right now and was
kind enough to ask about his
friends in Lucknow.
It was nice to see the pictures
of all our wonderful volunteer
firefighters in last weeks paper.
Many of the faces are familiar
to me, but some are not, all of
them are our neighbours and
we should remember to thank
them for the wonderful service
they do for our community.
So thanks to all you great vol-
unteers, I hope we don't have
to see you at our homes but do
look forward to seeing you in
all our parades.
This past Sunday, Lucknow
United Church held its anni-
versary service with special
guests Joan and Dave Black
who talked of their sojourn to
New Zealand.
