A man sits patiently waiting for fish to bite at the mouth of Port Albert's Nine Mile River on
Oct. 4, 2016. The spot, along with the area along Lake Huron, were popular with anglers
during the recent nice weather that has held off fall in the region.

He said his family has
always made a point to
work with smaller distribu-
tors, but in this case it's a
small store with big
numbers.
"That is excellent, I'm very
impressed," said Ashley.
"Certainly our strategy has
always been to sell to the lit-
tle guys for the same price as
the big guys."
The process to get a ice
cream cone during the busy
times is also a key to their
success in the close -quar-
ters, product -to -the -rafters
store.
Lucy said they needed at
least two helpers this
summer to ensure people
lined up single file, paid
while giving their cashiers
the size of cone, then wait
to tell the scoopers what
kind of cone or cup of ice
cream they'd like. This way,
customers are served
quickly, efficiently and
shuffled out the door to
take on their cones.
"It was definitely a lot of
work each night, washing
out buckets and getting
ready for the next day," she
said.
The couple mark their
50th wedding anniversary
with a community gather-
ing in Lucknow from 7
p.m. to midnight on Oct.
15.
