Attendees said sun was shining but it was windy, and hard to hold on to the flags at times. It was quite cool, but there was a great turnout at the Lucknow Cenotaph for the Nov. 11, 2016 ceremony. Many school children took part, with some classes from LCPS and also a bus with a couple of classes from Brookside attending. Local Air Cadets also took part in playing the ceremonial guard. A church service was held at the Lucknow Community Christian Reformed Church to mark the occasion. "I thought of John McCrae's poem with the small white crosses and the ceramic poppies dispersed between them," said Luc - know Legion's Sarah Taylor. The LCPS band played as usual with the Lucknow Classics band accompany- ing them. One WWII veteran, Don Ross, marched and placed the Veterans' Wreath. Many people remained after the service to place their poppies on wreaths, which is a tradition. "We were very pleased with support from the com- munity," Taylor said.
