Open House - Everyone Is Welcome
Meet the NWMO and Learn More About Upcoming Studies
The Township of Huron -Kinloss is learning more about Canada's plan for the safe,
long-term management of used nuclear fuel and the current step in the site selection
process now underway: Phase 2 Preliminary Assessment Studies.
Drop by the open house at the Learn More Centre to meet NWMO staff, learn about
the project and share your thoughts. The NWMO would like to work with people in the
community to plan for the drilling of an initial borehole to advance understanding of
general geology across the area.
This initial borehole is for research purposes and is not expected to be a repository site.
Your comments on proposed locations for this study are valuable and will help the
community and the NWMO plan our work together.
Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to meeting you.

Lucknow Remembrance
Day service well -attended
and well-done
Lucknow's 2016 Remem-
brance Day Service was one
to hold close to the heart.
Attendees said sun was
shining but it was windy,
and hard to hold on to the
flags at times.
It was quite cool, but there
was a great turnout at the
Lucknow Cenotaph for the
Nov. 11, 2016 ceremony.
Many school children took
part, with some classes from
LCPS and also a bus with a
couple of classes from
Brookside attending. Local
Air Cadets also took part in
playing the ceremonial
guard.
A church service was held
at the Lucknow Community
Christian Reformed Church
to mark the occasion.
"I thought of John
McCrae's poem with the
small white crosses and the
ceramic poppies dispersed
between them," said Luc -
know Legion's Sarah
Taylor.
The LCPS band played as
usual with the Lucknow
Classics band accompany-
ing them.
One WWII veteran, Don
Ross, marched and placed
the Veterans' Wreath.
Many people remained
after the service to place
their poppies on wreaths,
which is a tradition.
"We were very pleased
with support from the com-
munity," Taylor said.
