Lucknow chamber looks
ahead at elections, Santa
Parade and more news
The Lucknow Chamber of
Commerce held it executive
meeting on Nov 1, 2016.
The chamber currently sits
at 67 members, and when
through a number of old
business items during the
discussion.
The old hydro poles down-
town remain an issue due to
Kincardine Cable/Roger's
failure to remove their cable
lines off of them.
Secretary Rod McDonagh
said the issue had been
brought to the attention of
Huron -Kinloss administra-
tor Mary Rose Walden, who
followed up with Rogers.
They have told her the work
should be completed by the
end of November, 2016. Wal-
den will monitor this and fol-
low up if the work has not
been completed, McDonagh
said, adding the COC appreci-
ates Huron -Kinloss stepping
into the matter.
On another issue, the
long-standing lack of a safety
guard rail having been
placed on the south side of
the bridge at Waterworks
Parks was discussed, since it
has been outstanding since
the Campbell St. reconstruc-
tion in 2014.
President Mort Jakobsen
said he was again in touch
with the Bruce County Public
Works Department and has
been told the work will be
done in the week of Nov 14.
Although appreciated,
chamber members said they
wondered why an obvious
deficiency like this has to be
chased up so many times.
The six new waste bins
ordered by and paid for by
the COC have been received.
Due to when they arrived
last month, they were stored
and will be placed in the
spring of 2017.
There was discussion
regarding Knechtel's Food
Market location.
Nothing of real substance is
known although there are some
"irons in the fire" reportedly.
The parking lot is currently
being used for overflow parking
but will be only partially kept
clear of snow for emergency
vehicles during the winter.
We will once again be pro-
moting the COC Community
Service Award for members of
our community that have in
2016, or in pastyears, contrib-
uted to the Village of Lucknow
and surrounding area through
deeds or contributions, chari-
table works or business
achievement that have helped
develop and strengthen the
community.
Forms are available at
McDonagh Insurance office
with a deadline date of Dec.
4, 2016.

That's no streetlight
Troy Patterson/Editor
The bright spot in the photo next to the Point Clark Lighthouse was the `Super Moon' that shone bright on Nov. 13, 2016,
illuminating the sky brighter than streetlights across the region. The event was the closest the Moon has been to Earth since 1948
and won't be this close again until Nov. 25, 2034.
and Christmas Carols.
Both Kayla and Elaine had
come up with suggestions for
this year's theme. Elaine has
also been in touch with Arm-
strong's Home Bakeryconcem-
ing the ordering of candy treat
bags. This has been something
that Knechtel's had done for
several past years and we thank
them for their generosity to this
annual community event.
The Lucknow & District
Kinsmen Club will once
again be in charge of the
parade.
Kin member Dale
Lougheed can be reached at
519-612-1607 if anyone has
any questions.
Elaine had also sent word to
see if a Christmas shopping
promotion could be set up in
the time leading up to Dec. 25.
This would be in addition to
the annual H -K driven pro-
motion that is again being
held. Elaine and Danielle Sut-
ton have volunteered to
spearhead this project.
