HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 2016-11-09, Page 9Scone crokinole players prepare for tournament in Owen Sound Nov. 26 Despite the CMA Awards and the 7th game of the World Series 26, dedicated crokinole players came out to the Scone Schoolhouse Nov. 2 for an evening of competition. Finishing in top spot for the men was Mike Howe with 58 points followed by Al Carter with 56 and Neil Cook and Clare Kuepfer tied with 52 for third. Neil took top spot with the twenties count with 48, Al had 45 and Clare was third with 31. Cathy Kuepfer topped the ladies with 57 points followed by Carol Cook and Jo -Ann Carter with 55 for a tie for second and Helen Zet- tier was third with 47. Jo -Ann topped the twenties with 41, Helen was second with 35 and Carol took third with 31. Prize winners were Fran- cis Zettler, Len Zettler, Win- ston Riley and Dan Black - lock. Players were reminded to sign up for the Scenic City Tournament scheduled for Nov 26 in Owen Sound. Our next competition in Scone will be held on Wed. Lucknow Legends take down Belmore 4-1 The Legends travelled to Belmore on Friday night. After a a bit of a slow start the Legends managed ton - take control of the game with three goals at the end of the first period. Katie Smyth snagged the first goal with help from new comer Jessica small and Robin McDonagh. Julie Bin- ning and Dru Austin set up Diane Bushell for the second goal and Britt Hymers sent in a bullet to wrap up the first period. McDonagh and Austin would deliver a beauty opportunity to Bin- ning late in the third to seize a 4-1 win. Kayla Black stood strong in net. For the Day of the Dead, students created an ofrenda (altar) with candles, chocolates, flowers, fruit, photos and wine to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away.
