New program offered to support rural caregivers in region
The Rural Women's Health Support
Initiative (RWHSI) is a caregiver sup-
port phone line to help rural caregivers
that maybe struggling with the task of
caring for their loved ones, while trying
to maintain their own well-being.
The new, innovative program
connects caregivers with a trained
volunteer that applies a health -
coaching conversation to help car-
egivers locate community
resources, create personalized
action plans, or simply be a listen-
ing ear to someone who under-
stands the caregiver role.
When a caregiver calls into the line
they are prompted to leave their
name, phone number, community
where they live and a brief explana-
tion for the reason for their call.
The caregivers call will be
returned within 48 hours from one
of the volunteers.
Volunteers are local individuals
with caregiving experience who
recognize the need for more types
of programs to support caregivers,
and have stepped up to help out
