Bank of Montreal contributes $40,000 to Wingham hospital campaign
Bank of Montreal has pledged
to contribute $40,000 to the
Wingham & District Hospital
Foundation over the next four
years to support the major rede-
velopment project.
With branches in Wingham,
Lucknow, Mildmay and Teeswa-
ter, Bank of Montreal has a pres-
ence throughout much of the
Wingham & District Hospital's
service area.
Their clients and staff are the
same people who will benefit
from the improvements to the
Hospital facility and services.
Representatives from BMO
attended the 15th Annual CKNX
Healthcare Heroes Radiothon on
May 12, 2016 to present their
donation to the Wingham & Dis-
trict Hospital Foundation.
All donations to the WDH
Foundation made during the
Radiothon also went towards the
$4 million Our Hospital, Our
Future campaign goal.
"BMO has a long history of
being an active participant in the
communities it serves and we
are pleased to be able to con-
tinue that tradition with this
pledge to the Wingham Hospi-
tal," said BMO regional VP of
personal banking Cheri Knott.
Campaign chair Mark Foxton
also recognized BMO South-
western Ontario commercial
account manager Byron Hen-
derson for his support in making
this important donation a
reality.
Major donations such as the
one from Bank of Montreal has
made it possible for the Our
Hospital, Our Future Campaign
to achieve 60% of its goal prior
to the CKNX Healthcare Heroes
Radiothon. All pledges that
were called in that day were
added to campaign total and
will assist in reaching the target
of $4 million.
Currently, work is underway
to transform the gymnasium of
the former Wingham Public
School into a state of the art
medical clinic and work is

Keeping busy in Dungannon and St. Helen's

The daffodils and tulips are
out in full bloom, making
wonderful splashes of all kinds
of colour around the
countryside.
Steve Albrecht has sold his lot
in St. Helen's.
The Amish farmers are busy in
their fields planting corn with
three row planters pulled by
horses. Menno Miller has a large
number of baby Muscovy ducks
running around.
Lois and Joe Psutka planted the
flower box at the corner of Joseph
and Southampton street with col-
ourful petunias. He even made a
lid for it to protect the flowers
from frost. Well done folks.
The lawns are all cut and look-
ing very nice.
It snowed very hard on Sun-
day, May 15 in the morning. The
last time I can recall snow this
late was on May 24 in 1957 in
Melbourne, Ont. 80 miles south
of here. I was 17 years old.
I had a nice visit with my 95
year old mother in Strathroy on
Sat. An old friend Barbara
McVicar died on May 6 at the
grand age of 107.
On Friday the 13th Barry
Devereaux visited with Shag and
Joan and helped fix a nasty snag
on my fishing pole. Thanks Barry.
Pike season opened on May 14
in Lake Wawanosh. Good luck
fisherman.
There were nine thirsty folks
for coffee but only 4 for euchre
last week at the Dungannon
Senior Centre.

The Lucknow Rumoli Club
met last week for our monthly
evening of fun. We always have
a good time trying to win pen-
nies from each other. Yes, we
still have pennies, they may not
be legal tender in Canada any
longer, but they work for us,
and, we can't be arrested for
gambling now that they're not
legal tender.
Former members of St.
Peter's Anglican Church who
now attend services at St.
Paul's -Trinity in Wingham
are helping out at the St.
Paul's -Trinity yard sale and
barbecue this coming Satur-
day. It starts at 8 a.m. and
goes to 1 p.m.
Karen Gaunt recently
attended Synod in London as
the lay representative for St.
Paul's -Trinity. Synod is held
yearly in May for all Anglican
Churches in the Huron
Diocese.
This past Saturday, Kings-
bridge Centre held a night of
local entertainment for the
community to enjoy. If you
were able to attend, I'm sure
you had a good time, as we do
have many very talented peo-
ple in our community.
Don't forget the Ripley Horti-
cultural Flower Show & Tea this
afternoon at the Ripley Com-
munity Centre.
Celebrating their 152nd
anniversary this weekend is
Chalmers Presbyterian Church
in Whitechurch. It is a happy
and sad celebration as Chalm-
ers will be closing their doors.
Try to get out this Sunday
afternoon to help them
celebrate.
