The Wawanosh 4-H Grow
Your Own club took part in
the Auburn Co-op Container
Gardening Workshop on
May 5
Members jumped right
into the gardening. Rhea told
the club the first thing you
put in your container garden
is a thriller.
A thriller is an exciting
plant that draws attention to
the container. Next step is to
add fillers to make the pot
less vacant and more colour-
ful. Last step is to add spill-
ers. These are plants that
flow over the side of the pot
adding more to it. With these
steps in mind members
began to fill their containers.
First adding gravel to the
bottom to let water out but
keep the soil in. Then adding
soil and their various thrill-
ers, fillers, and spillers.
With the flowers planted
members filled their pots
with soil and could ever keep
the containers at the Co-op
to be nurtured or take the
home to showcase.
Members were asked to
think of names of the club,
but the name is to be con-
firmed at the next meeting.
Members then enjoyed a
snack provided by the Co-op
and talked about various
gardening facts before
leaving.
The most recent meeting
was May 7 at the Wingham
Community Garden.

A call to police regarding a pos-

an arrest and charge against
a driver from Bruce County.
Just before 5 p.m. on May 1,
2016 Huron County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) offic-
ers began patrolling for the
suspected impaired driver that
was observed travelling south-
bound on BluewaterVeteran's
Highway in an erratic manner.
A Huron OPP officer located
the suspect vehicle, a Chev-
rolet Impala, exiting out of a
gas station parking lot onto
Anglesea Street East in Goder-
ich. A traffic stop was initiated
and while speaking with the
driver police noted the driver
had consumed some alcohol.

Male Facing
Vehicle Theft,
Impaired & Mis-
chief Charges
A 25 -year-old man from
Central Huron faces 13
charges in connection to
a series of events that
unfolded April 26, 2016.
Huron County OPP has laid
charges after an incident just
before 3 p.m., when offic-
ers responded to Saltford
Road after receiving a com-
plaint of a possible impaired
driver. Police received infor-
mation that a male driver had
driven to a residence in Salt -
ford and parked a vehicle on
the front lawn of the caller's
property. The driver tried to
leave the property in the vehi-
cle, however the engine had
sustained significant damage
and the vehicle was immo-
bile. The driver abandoned the
vehicle and took off on foot
heading toward the Maitland
River carrying a case of beer.
Officers were able to locate
the male driver walking toward
the river. Upon speaking with
the man, police observed sev-
eral signs he was intoxicated.
Upon confirming the identity
of the driver, he was placed
under arrest for impaired
driving and later refused to
provide a breath sample to
the Intoxilizer Technician.
Further police investiga-
tion revealed the driver
started his crime spree
that morning in Clinton.
The accused allegedly took
an unlocked 2005 Ford F-150
pickup truck from a Huron
Street business. Police said
the vehicle was taken to a
property located on Bluewa-
ter Veteran's Highway where
the home was forcibly entered
and a case of beer stolen.
The pickup truck was then
abandoned and the accused
allegedly took a Plymouth
sedan from the scene.
