Education ministry pledges BGCDSB
$830k to improve school conditions
The Bruce -Grey Catholic
District School Board
(BGCDSB) has received con-
firmation from the Ministry
of Education that it will
receive an additional
$827,829 in school condition

funds is to repair and renew
schools across the province,
states the release.
Mitzie Hunter, the Ontario
minister of education, is
quoted as saying: "Investing
in our schools is one of the
most important infrastruc-
ture investments we can
make for nearly 2 million
students in Ontario. Our gov-
ernment believes in better
buildings for better learning
and well-being. Making sure
schools across the province
are in a state of good repair is
an essential part of support-
ing student achievement.
The investment announced
today is great news for stu-
dents, educators, communi-
ties, and the economy:'
For BGCDSB, the funding
will include an additional
$299,248 for school condition

funding for 2015-16, plus an
additional $348,039 for school
condition improvement and
$91,839 for renewal funding
for the 2016-17 school year.
Jamie McIGnnon, the direc-
tor of education for BCDSB,
welcomes the additional
funding, saying: "This supple-
mental funding will be
directed at addressing a back-
log
acklog of maintenance and
upgrades to main-
tainP' necessary
our schools as safe,
healthy and productive learn-
ing environments:'
