Dave Farrish Day raises 54,775 for Lucknow Minor Hockey
Darryl Coote
Reporter
A total $4,775 was raised
for Lucknow Minor Hockey
from a silent auction and
personal donations during
Dave Farrish Day on July 9,
2016.
Lucknow dedicated that
early July Saturday to hon-
our retired NHL defence -
man, current Colorado
Avalanche assistant coach
and Stanley Cup -winner
Dave Farrish, who was born
and raised in the town.
The main event of the day
was an unveiling of the
"Dave Farrish Champions
Chamber" in the Lucknow
Arena, which was followed
by a dinner and silent auc-
tion at the local Legion hall.
The majority of the
money raised was through
the silent auction, which
saw a Toronto Maple Leafs
signed Morgan Rielly
sweater go to Craig Craw-
ford for $375 and a signed
Nathan MacKinnon Ava-
lanche sweater going to
Cathy MacKinnon for $300.
Dave Farrish also
donated $500 to the cause
as did his brother Ken Far-
rish and the Lucknow
Juvenile Silver Stick Com-
mittee, which Dave is its
ambassador.
Event organizer Luke
Cranston said it was "fab-
ulous" to see the commu-
nity come together to
show its appreciation for
Farrish, who, when he
won the cup in 2008 with
the Anaheim Ducks he
choose to bring it down
Campbell Street.
During the dinner spe-
cial guest Pat Hickey, who
is a former NHL teammate
of Farrish's, had the crowd
in stitches, said Cranston.
"It was hilarious but on
the same note, it was
inspirational ... I was so
glad that he was able to
come up and speaker" he
said.
Farrish also spoke and
gave his thanks to the
community for not only
the day but also the sup-
port the community
offered him while he was
growing up.

BlackHorse scores for July 17, 19
July 17 Scramble
On July 17 we had a sunny
and breezy day for a four -

Horse. After a good burger
and salads, we went out for a
shotgun start and enjoyed
the next few hours on the
course.
The scores came in so
close we had two teams tied
for first and three teams tied
for third. To settle the ties
one person from each of
those teams went out to the
100 -yard marker on #18 for a
closest to the pin contest. In
the end, the team of Doug
