Lucknow's MUSIC Skills at Bruce County

Music in the Fields
This year promises to be
another exciting one for one
of the finest weekends of
country music at Lucknow's
Music in the Fields, held
Aug. 25-27, 2016, at the Luc -
know Soccer Fields.
One of the challenges for
festivals is to try and find
new and interesting activi-
ties to keep the event fresh
and exciting for all patrons.
Entering our eighth year, we
have a loyal following of peo-
ple who identify with the fes-
tival, but we also believe that
we owe it to these people to
provide new experiences
and make great efforts to
improve upon past suc-
cesses. So what's new this
year?
Thursday Night Throw down
This year we are offering
yet another night of enter-
tainment. Campers are start-
ing to come in earlier and by
Thursday night we typically
have over half of our camp-
ers on site. This year, we
chose to provide even more
value and entertainment
with our "Thursday Night
Throw down" Providing the
stage entertainment will be
"The Abrams," a brand-new,
up-and-coming band to the
world of Canadian country.
You will have seen them at
the Country Music Associa-
tion of Ontario Awards and
heard them on the radio
with their newest single
"Fine." This will be sup-
ported by DJ Bugleboy, who
s
S
will spin some of country's
top hits.
Graceland Camping
Our newest campground
is now ready and open for
business. Lucknow's Music
in the Fields has not only
become known for its great
music, but as a camping
destination and as a result
the camping has grown
with the festival. There
became a real need to find
a more permanent camp-
ing solution within close
proximity to the festival
site. From this, Graceland
was born on 55 acres of
prime camping area that is
about a 15 -minute walk to
the festival ground. For
those who don't enjoy a
relaxing, scenic walk
through a nature trail,
ample bussing will be avail-
able to get you to the
festival.
Inflatable Playground
If you're looking for
something fun to do in the
campground on Friday and
Saturday this year, we are
introducing a new all -ages
inflatable playground into
Graceland, brought to you
by X -Infused from London.
This fun zone will be a cir-
cuit of inflatable games and
obstacles that camping
patrons will be able to uti-
lize throughout the week-
end. These games will be
family friendly and sure to
provide hours of entertain-
ment for everyone. Timing
will be announced leading
up closer to the big

For The Wee Festival -Goers
On Saturday from 9am to
12pm, we will be hosting
the "Tumbleweeds Club," a
unique experience for kids
aged 6-12. This is an oppor-
tunity for the up-and-com-
ing country generation to
have a little fun away from
mom and dad. For a nomi-
nal cost of $25, they will
have a sneak peek of what
goes on behind the scenes
at Lucknow's Music in the
Fields. They will have an
opportunity to visit one of
the stages and be a star for
a few minutes, paint festival
murals, get a Tumbleweeds
t -shirt, share some snacks
and have sole access to the
X -infused Inflatable Play-
ground during the
morning.
Free Parking
Parking costs and access
can be very bothersome,
and as a result of your feed-
back we have taken away
this common concern. The
primary parking lot will still
be at the Lucknow Sports
Complex with overflow
parking close -by. Once at
the parking lot, the Luc -
know Transit System, a bus
service put on by the Luc -
know and District Kins-
men, will pick you up and
take you directly to the fes-
tival ground -- all for free.
Look for parking signs on
the way into town.

Al, Teresa Schnurr, Jo -Ann
and Helen.
A number of scone
players will be competing
in Lewiston, New York on
July 30 as well as the Mike
McGlynn Memorial Tour-
nament on August 6th in
Wingham.

evening for Scone crokinole
is Wednesday, Aug. 3,
beginning at 7pm.
Bruce Botanical Food Gardens
The Bruce Botanical Food
Gardens (BBFG) will be
hosting the Bruce County
Plowmen's Association
youth plowing education
day at the gardens on July 31,
2016.
The next generation of
farmers ages 9-16 will hone
their skills plowing the field
surrounding the Gardens.
Some will earn their
required plowing points in
preparation for competition
at the International Plowing
Match to be held Sept. 20-24
near Harriston, Ontario.
Others will just be practic-
ing. An IPM stewart/judge
will be on hand that day to
assist. Snobelen Farms will
be providing a tailgate lunch
for participants.
The Bruce County Plow-
men's Association welcomes
new members to their asso-
ciation. Previous experience
or knowledge is not neces-
sary and although the Junior
Plowing Club is geared
towards youth 9-16, they
encourage all ages from any-
where to join and learn.
(This particular event is by
invitation only).
In efforts to increase
awareness and appreciation
of the developing skills of
these young people, the
BBFG is planning a special
value added activity for the
participants in the popular
award winning Huron -Kin-
loss Ice Cream Trail. Execu-
tive director Lynne Taylor
said, "although we will be
offering a special take-home
activity, we feel the real
value -add is the opportunity
to watch close up how farm
ploughing is done and the
precision it requires -not to
mention the support it gives
these inspiring young peo-
ple. An experienced plow-
man makes it look simple
but it isn't as easy as jump-
ing on a tractor and driving!"
Youth 15-20 are expected to
take part in the days judged
event with the 2015-2016
Queen of the Furrow, Serena
Lamont, participating.
All are welcome to visit the
garden at 62 Park Street, Rip-
ley ON and enjoy the day's
events with Plowmen's start-
ing their day around 9am
and expected to finish by
3pm.
