Knechtel Food Market to close July 27
Darryl Coote

After 30 years of business
in Lucknow, Knechtel Food
Market announced it would
be closing its doors July 27
after failing to come to an
agreement on rent with the
property's landowner.
Lucknow's lone grocery
store made the announcement
on its Facebook page Thurs-
day, July 14, 2016.
President and owner of
Knechtel Food Market, Brian
Knechtel, told The Sentinel
he and his wife, Kathy, were
"disappointed" that after 30
years they would be shutter-
ing their store.
"We did not want to end
this way," he said. "We cer-
tainly were prepared to stay
here longer if we could make
it work for us ... Unfortu-
nately, we had to come to
the point where we said we
have to look at moving on:'
Knechtel said he and his
wife were "unable to negoti-
ate the rent to reflect the cur-
rent economic situation in
Lucknow."
