As members arrived they quickly began weeding vari- ous parts of the garden. While some members con- tinued to weed, other mem- bers hilled potato plants. After fifteen minutes, repre- sentatives from Trillium Mutual came and took a pic- ture with the club in the gar- den. When all the pictures were taken, the club went back to their gardening tasks. Once the club finished most of the weeding, they headed to Eileen's house for the rest of the meeting. Marilyn Reid gave a summary of the Bruce County Women's Institute District Annual. New Women's Institute signs were discussed and orders were taken. Marilyn will be hosting the planning meeting on June 23. Convenor Janet Nixon had some readings and then introduced Lynn Taylor of Bruce Botanical Gardens. Lynn was so interesting - she talked about the gardens in Ripley. BlackHorse golf scores are in for June 28 June 28 was a little cool for golfing but there was still a good turnout and we saw some low scores. Two eagles were scored by Glen Chaput and Craig Zet- tler. Tom Pegg won "A" flight with 24 points while Glen Chaput had 23. Skins in "A" were won by Jeff Wilken, Andy McLelland and Glen Chaput. Martin Mooy won "B" with 25 points and Craig Zettler had 23. Martin, Jim Kent and Craig all won skins. George Armstrong was on top in "C" with 26 points and Dave Plourde had 24. Dave won all the skin money in "C'. Closest to the pin win- ners were Doug Gauthier, George Armstrong, Martin Mooy, Craig Zettler and Andy McLelland. June 27 saw BlackHorse go to Pike Lake for the sec- ond Ryder Cup match of the year. The first week was won by BlackHorse, but this week saw St. Marys come out on top, and they now lead the division. The format was a two-man shamble. Travelling to Pike Scone crokinole scores for June 29 Five tables of crokinole players enjoyed an evening of competition on June 29 at the Scone Schoolhouse. Topping the score for the men was Neil Cook with 59, Clare Kuepfer was second with 51 and Al Carter had 44 points for third. Al topped the twenties cate- gory with 50, Neil had 28 for second and Ron Hodgins was third with 27. Cathy Kuepfer captured first for the ladies with 52 points followed by Diane Hyslop with 49 and Doreen Sulkye with 44 for third place. Cathy also topped the twenties with 35, Linda Simkins had 26 and Diane had 24 for third. Door Prizes were won by Doreen, Peter Carter, Betty Fisher and Don Crigger.
