The Wingham Sportsman Asso-
ciation opened up its pond June 15,
2016, to Community Living Wing -
ham and District for a day of fish-
ing and a barbecue.
Though the weather looked
threatening to rain out the event, it
held off long enough to allow for
about 40 people with special needs
to fish for speckled and rainbow
trout from the manmade pond out
front of the sportsmen's
clubhouse.
For Allan Miller, the association's
chairman of special events, this day
is a special one.
"It's a special day for special priv-
ileged people," he said.
His sporting club has been hold-
ing this event for the local Commu-
nity Living branch for the past
40 -odd years, he said.
"They can't wait for this to come,"
he said of the clients at Community
Living.

Wingham and District, agreed with
Miller's statement.
"And for some of them, this is
the only time they fish," she
said.
Dozens of fish were caught that
day by the clients of Community
Living, which they were then able
to take home.
Miller explained that they
populate the pond with fish for this
