Canada Aocna Member of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association and the Ontario Community Newspapers Association Royal Homes Makes $100,000 Donation to Wingham Hospital redevelopment Royal Homes has joined the growing group of significant donors to the Wingham & Dis- trict Hospital Foundation's Our Hospital, Our Future campaign with a $100,000 pledge. This is a major donation that will be pledged by Doug Kuyven- hoven, Hans and Gerrie Kuyven- hoven, Klaas Jorritsma and Pie- ter Venema of Royal Homes over the next five years. Doug Kuyvenhoven feels strongly that local businesses and individuals are responsible for the future of local healthcare and he is hoping that Royal Homes' $100,000 will set an example for others to also com- mit their donations to the Our Hospital, Our Future project. Campaign Chair Mark Foxton was on hand at Royal Homes on June 9 to accept the donation and commented that Royal Homes builds the places where our friends, families and neigh- bours live and the Hospital cares for them "together we are build- ing a community that will last for generations and this donation exemplifies that connection." LUCKNOW NEWS Lucknow News welcomes back Blacks after two years in New Zealand Ruth Dobrensky A big welcome home to Joan and Dave Black from their two- year sojourn in New Zealand. I'm sure we'll be hearing all about their adventures down under once they readjust to local time and get a breather from telling friends and relatives how glad they are to be home. Congratulations and happy 75th birthday to Marian Mowbray who celebrated this past Saturday. Congratulations also to Don Bone and Harvey Livingston on winning the Super Senior Golf Tournament at the Bayview Golf and Country Club south of Goderich. This was the Legion District Golf Tournament, next stop Fergus for the Legion Zone Tournament. The Lucknow Sepoy Ranees held a successful and wonderful 90th birthday tea for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth last Thursday at the Town Hall here in Lucknow. Approximately 70 ladies attended the tea from such near and far-flung places as Durham, Owen Sound, Hanover, Port Elgin, Teeswater, Goderich, Mildmay and of course, Luc - know. The Queen sent her regrets but, we had Lady Patricia Tate -Morris of Glencoe Scotland and Lucknow, Ontario stand in as her representative. Lady Pat was presented with flowers and a small gift to thank her for repre- senting Queen Elizabeth. In the letter of replay we received from The Queen she also sent her best wishes and thanks for our kind thoughts and birthday card. We promised to send her lots of pic- tures of the day. I've heard that some unscru- pulous people have been steal- ing hanging pots and other flower arrangements from the cemeteries in the area. I've also been advised that these people then resell these plants at yard and garage sales. I'm not sure what can be done to stop this sort of thing, but it is very disconcerting, so keep your eyes open and take down license plate numbers if you see it happening. Keep an eye out for bears, they've been spotted in Port Albert, if they head inland, Luc - know could be next. There were some good pointers as to when to report sightings to the MNR and the phone number to call. Sympathies of the community to the families of: W. Lenore Glenn, 87, Wingham (formerly Lucknow); Evelyn McLennan, 95, Brussels (formerly Teeswa- ter); and, Rita Merldey, 92, Luc - know (formerly Wingham.
