BlackHorse men's rescheduled opening
Our men's opening scram-
ble, originally scheduled for
May 14th, (rained out) was
finally held on May 28.
Re -scheduling was a good
choice as the day turned out
sunny and warm. After a
breakfast sandwich, we played
a Florida scramble on a course
in great condition - and some
interesting pin positions.
After 18 hard fought holes,
two teams were tied at 7
under. The match was settled
with aclosest to the pin con-
test from 100 yards on # 18.
The team of Bill King, Tony
Cordeiro, Chuck Anderson
and Steve Bate ended up
winning. The first losers
were John Whitten, Ray
Guay, Dave Cooper, and
Tom Pegg. Whitten and
Guay both had good shots to
the green, but Cordeiro's
shot beat out Whitten by

Ten Madill athletes competed in the
OFSAA West Regional Meet in Cambridge on
May 28, 2016.
Track and field athletes from CWOSSA,
SWOSSA, and WOSSAA converge and com-
pete for the opportunity to represent their
school at the Ontario high school champion-
ships (OFSAA) to be held in Windsor.
In a field often touted as the most compet-
itive regional meet in the province, only the
top four athletes and relay teams in each
event advance to OFSAA.
Even in the midst of tough competition,
Madill athletes excelled earning five 'per-
sonal bests' (Taylor Montgomery in discus,
Austin Eadie in long jump, Mitch Deans in
triple jump and Ben Newell in discus) and
four top eight finishes. The Junior Girls
4X100m relay team connected flawlessly
sprinting the baton around the track in their
best time of the season (54.34). This time
was remarkable because a midget girl, Jor-
dyn Stuzman, filled in for Jessica Johnston
who was unable to attend.
Justin McKague cleared the high jump bar
at 1.90m to earn third place and qualification
to OFSAA. This marks McKague's fifth con-
secutive year qualifying for OFSAA in high
jump. This is a feat rarely accomplished by a
high school athlete.
Funding to our health care
system will increase
by over $1 billion this year.

Investing in new and better ways for all
Ontarians to get the care they need means:
• 700 new doctors and specialists
• 35 hospitals currently being
renewed, modernized or expanded
• $250 million invested in home and
community care
• $345 million invested to improve wait
times and access to care
These investments ensure a strong health
care system for both today and tomorrow.
