Foundation marks $1
millionth dollar fundraised
The Wingham & District Hospital
Foundation's Our Hospital, Our
Future fundraising campaign has
surpassed the $1 million mark in its
quest to raise $4 million towards the
major redevelopment of the
Hospital.
The milestone was achieved in
part due to the generosity of

heard from campaign team leader
Jenny Hogervorst that the campaign
was within striking distance of the
one million dollar mark. Without
hesitation they wrote a cheque for
the first installment of their five year
pledge to donate $25,000 on behalf
of McDonagh Insurance Brokers
and their staff.
That cheque included the memo-
rable one millionth dollar.

and Teeswater. The McDonaghs

in recognition of the hospital's
importance in the lives of their
employees and clients, regardless of
which town they live or work in.
The Board of the Wingham & Dis-
trict Hospital Foundation and the
Our Hospital, Our Future campaign
team are grateful to all the generous
donors who have already commit-
ted their pledges and set the cam-
paign on the path towards success.
To date, the Our Hospital, Our
Future campaign has raised $1.3
million of the $4 million goal.
All the funds raised will go
towards the expansion of the only
chemotherapy clinic in Huron and
Bruce Counties, the pharmacy, out-
patient clinic, operating suite, team
nursing station, sterilization depart-
ment, upgrading digital imaging
equipment, creation of new rehabil-
itation space, accessible showers,
the new front entrance and the crea-
tion of a new larger primary care
clinic. The clinic will be located in
the new Health and Wellness Cam-
pus which is being created in the
former Wingham Public School.
The Health Campus will alleviate
the space deficit caused by depart-
ment expansions in the Hospital
and unite primary care providers in
a one -stop -shop location focussed
on meeting the needs of an aging
population.
Work has already begun on some
aspects of the redevelopment pro-
ject. Recent activities include new
flooring and wall finishes in the
Emergency Department, renova-
tions in the former Boardroom to
create a Rehabilitation space closer
to the main entrance, and installa-
tion of new electrical service and
public washrooms in the Health
Campus. Tenders have closed for
the renovations to the new Health
Campus, for the creation of the new
Hospital registration area and for an
accessible washroom at the main
entrance. Directional signage is now
in place outside the Hospital.
The progress towards the fund-
raising goal and the visible begin-
nings of the renovations are
encouraging.
Campaign Chair Mark Foxton
said he hopes, "the strong commu-
nity support that has helped us
reached the $1 million mark will
continue and inspire others to get
involved as well."
An investment in the Wingham &
District Hospital is an investment in
the future of local healthcare.
