Wednesday, January 27, 2016 • Lucknow Sentinel 5 Lucknow Library movie nights return Jan. 27 Grant Robertson Bruce County Libraries If you missed the Lucknow Library movie on Jan. 6, you missed a good one in Jim- my's Hall. Coming up on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. will be the movie A Walk in the Woods. The movie stars Robert Red- ford, Emma Thompson, Nick Nolte and Mary Steenburgen. Here's what the movie is about: In this new comedy adven- ture, celebrated travel writer, Bill Bryson, instead of retiring to enjoy his loving and beau- tiful wife, and large and happy family, challenges himself to hike the Appala- chian Trail - 2,200 miles of America's most unspoiled, spectacular and rugged countryside from Georgia to Maine. The peace and tran- quility he hopes to find, though, is anything but, once he agrees to being accompa- nied by the only person he can find willing to join him on the trek - his long lost and former friend Katz, a down - on -his -luck serial philan- derer who, after a lifetime of relying on his charm and wits to keep one step ahead of the law - sees the trip as a way to sneak out of paying some debts and sneak into one last adventure before its too late. The trouble is, the two have a completely different defini- tion of the word, "adventure': Now they're about to find out that when you push yourself to the edge, the real fun begins. And here's a link to the trailer: youtu.be/ cOF2LIAp9bw Flooding in Port Albert leads to road closures Laura Broadley Goderich Signal Star Flooding around Mel- bourne and Central Synden- ham Streets in Port Albert on Tuesday night was the result of a frazil ice build up from Nine Mile River. Central Syndenham Street was closed and the Maitland Valley Conservation Author- ity had asked people to avoid the area. Normally ice freezes at the top of the lake but with the combination of - 10 C weather and high winds over the last few days it has blended together so ice freezes throughout. This type of ice is prone to jamming, said Steve Jackson, flooding and erosion safety services coordinator with the MVCA. It has been about 20 years since this last happened in Port Albert. It's a known issue in the area but not a common occurrence. The MVCA was working with the Township of Ash- field-Colborne-Wawanosh with ice management to help remedy the flooding. It's trying to move the ice around to give it another channel to Lake Huron, Jack- son said. Events like this tend to last a few days but Jackson said it's hard to give a fixed time- line on when the situation will be cleared up.
