Huron OPP
looking for
student marine
assistants
for 2016
Student looking for an
"awesome summer job"
look no further, as Huron
OPP has a position open.
The Huron County OPP
Detachment is once
again hiring two stu-
dents to work with the
OPP Marine Unit during
the 2016 marine season.
The OPP Summer Student
Marine Assistant Program
provides an opportunity for
students to gain exposure
and experience within the
field of law enforcement
through hands-on experi-
ence. The successful appli-
cants will learn about marine
safety, related legislation,
vessel maintenance, and
report preparation. Summer
students employed with the
OPP will have the opportu-
nity to promote the OPP and
the Huron OPP Marine polic-
ing program to the public.
The bulk of the student's
time will be spent out on
Lake Huron working along-
side a qualified OPP marine
operator on a police ves-
sel. During these patrols
officers conduct vessel
checks on recreational boat-
ers for safety equipment,
safe vessel operation and
the enforcement of laws
found in the Canada Ship-
ping Act, Criminal Code and
the Liquor License Act.
Marine students earn a
wage of $11.85 per hour.
This position is slated to
start May 2016 and will
run until the Labour Day
weekend in September.
"This is a great opportu-
nity for anyone that would
like to work in law enforce-
ment. Students will have the
opportunity to gain valuable
exposure and unique experi-
ence working alongside our
OPP Marine officers. Some
of our past summer stu-
dents have been inspired by
this program to continue on
with their studies to pursue
a career in law enforcement.
If you are looking for reward-
ing, interesting and excit-
ing summer job I encourage
you to apply," said Huron
OPP Traffic and Marine ser-
geant Charlene Pollard.
What Huron OPP
is looking for:
Flexibility — this position
requires the student to be
flexible with their sched-
ule, working varied shift
times and lengths, as well
as working many weekends
through -out the summer.
Ability to pass an OPP back-
ground security investigation
You must have a valid
Ontario G2 Driver's Licence
or equivalent (or higher).
You must have a valid and
current Pleasure Craft
Operators Card (PCOC).

The Ozobots are coming
to the Lucknow Library.
Ozobots are small smart
bots that use robotics to
pick up codes created by
coloured markers drawn on
paper.
Staff at the Library have
experimented with them,
learning how they work,
and they are a lot of fun.
They teach basic coding
and robotics, but they do it
in a way that is accessible
for any age; young and
older alike.
The Lucknow Library will
be hosting a program with
the Ozobots on Wed, Jan 20
at 6:30 pm. All are
welcome.
With funding by The
Society of Energy Profes-
sionals Bruce Power Local
Community Foundations
Fund, the Bruce County
Public Library was able to
purchase a number of
Ozobots.

the Ozobots visit ozobot.
