Numerous charges for two arrested after ACW break-in First 'Hawks' introduced as part of
A male and a female
remain in custody following
a foot pursuit that took
place Jan. 7 near Kintail.
At approximately 10:15
a.m. Huron OPP officers
responded to a call of a
break and enter in progress
at a property located on
Belfast Road.
Police said the owner of
the property encountered
two suspects searching
through his storage shed in
an effort to steal items. The
owner directed them out of
the shed and they immedi-
ately took off in a Ford
pickup truck heading
eastbound.
Officers converged on
the area and within min-
utes a Huron OPP officer
spotted the two suspects
at another small storage
shed on Belfast Road. The
female gave herself up
however the male took off
running from the officer. A
short foot pursuit ensued
and the male was success-
fully apprehended.
Officers located the geta-
way vehicle, a Ford pickup
truck inside the storage shed.
Upon further investigation
officers confirmed the vehi-
cle had been stolen from a
business located in
Kitchener.
Upon searching the sto-
len vehicle officers located
break-in tools and various
stolen items packed inside
the vehicle.
The female suspect pro-
vided a false name to offic-
ers when she was first taken
into custody. Upon search-
ing the female incident to
arrest officers located photo
identification that indicated
the female was lying about
her identity. Officers also
found the female to be in
possession of various illegal
drugs and drug trafficking
items.
Upon processing the
male suspect it was learned
he was currently failing to
abide by conditions of his
court release.

A closer look at Huron -Perth situation table
A pilot project known as the
Huron -Perth "Situation Table"
has been formed and the early
results indicate the Situation
Table is well on its way to
improving the outcomes for
those that have found them-
selves at a vulnerable point in
their life.
The multi -discipline
partnership known as the "Situ-
ation Table" is an innovative
approach to supporting those
individuals and families in our
community that are atthehigh-
estlevel of risk for harm and/or
victimization.
At the mid -way point of the
six-month pilot project the
Huron -Perth Situation Table
has identified and
supported 18 indi-
viduals/families.
"The Situation
Table response
model allows us to
identify those at an
elevated risk of
harm or victimiza-
tion and from there
we can rapidly
mobilize and pro-
vide the proper
resources to sup-
port those that are
most vulnerable," said Huron
OPP detachment commander
and inspector Jason Younan.
"Improving the well-being of
those that are in a crisis or about
to fall into a crisis is absolutely
critical to building a stronger
and safer community. We
embrace this opportunity and
we look forward to the many
positive outcomes that will be
achieved through the Huron -
Perth Situation Table:'
The "Situation Table" model
is a relatively new concept to
this area; therefore we would
like to provide the following
overview that may answer
some questions you may have.
Okay, who's sitting at the "Sit-
uation Table"? - The "Situation
Table" is comprised of a wide
range of Huron & Perth com-
munity partners. Currently
there are 21 partners at the table
with many areas of expertise
and knowledge, including but
not limited to: housing, social
services, addiction counselling
mental health, family counsel-
ling, justice services, and edu-
cation. All of our local police
services, Huron & Perth County
Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP), Stratford Police Service
and Wingham Police Service
have representation at the table.
What happens at the "Situa-
tion Table"? - On aweeklybasis
the community partners come
together in an effort to develop a
comprehensive strategy to sup-
port those individuals and/or
families with multiple risk factors
that have been identified at an
acutely elevated risk of being fur-
ther victimized and/or engaging
in further criminal activity. Quite
simply, ifnothingis done there is
a reasonable expectation that the
person or familywill
either cause harm to

ciency of sales and market-

across Ontario. Lesya's
main strengths include
leadership, drive for results,
superior communication
and change management.
Although this couple
enjoys their busy schedules
full of business, social and
philanthropic commit-
ments, they are always on
the lookout for the next
themselves or their community.
Itis also important to know, the
agency that has identified the
individual or family has done
everything under its own man-
date to support the person(s)
however without the support of
the other agencies at the table the
person in need may be left in a
state of crisis.
What are the benefits of having
a "Situation Table"? -The "Situa-
tion Table" model is an opportu-
nityfor communitymobilization
to deliver services in a proactive
and targeted manner. This evi-
dence based model operates on
the simple principle that if some-
thing bad is predictable, itis also
preventable. The "Situation
Table" connects people atriskto
the services that can help them,
when they need them the most
In some cases, this means saving
lives, in other cases it means pre-
venting a crime before it hap-
pens. This helps to build a
